  • Graduate from an accredited school of nursing.
  • A Bachelor’s degree in Nursing is required for Cardiac Rehab.
  • Hold a current Massachusetts state Registered Nurse license.
  • Maintain current Basic Life Support certification.
  • Obtain Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support certification with Basic Life Support for Registered Nurse positions in Telemetry, Intensive Care Unit, Emergency Department, Cardiac Rehab, Endoscopy, Labor, Delivery, Recovery, and Postpartum, Post-Anesthesia Care Unit, and Medical/Surgical units.
  • Obtain Neonatal Resuscitation Program certification with Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support and Basic Life Support for Registered Nurse positions in Labor, Delivery, Recovery, and Postpartum.
  • Obtain Pediatric Advanced Life Support certification with Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support and Basic Life Support for Registered Nurse positions in the Post-Anesthesia Care Unit and Emergency Department.
  • New graduate nurses are accepted for some positions.

Responsibilities
  • Optimize patient outcomes by delivering compassionate, collaborative, high-quality nursing care.
  • Promote excellence in nursing practice by delivering expert care to patients across age groups, cultures, psychosocial and spiritual circumstances, and disability concerns, consistent with assigned-unit admission and discharge criteria.
  • Render direct and indirect nursing care through application of the nursing process and in accordance with Sturdy Health policies, practice guidelines, nursing standards, the Massachusetts Nurse Practice Act, Centers for Disease Control and Prevention standards, Occupational Safety and Health Administration standards, and applicable regulatory or accreditation requirements.
  • Provide timely, positive responses to patients, families, coworkers, physicians, and other customers.
  • Collaborate with patients, families, and healthcare professionals to develop and implement individualized, coordinated, comprehensive care plans.
  • Assess and record temperature, pulse, respiration, and blood pressure to monitor patient status.
  • Gather and document patients’ medical histories, symptoms, and current health status.
  • Assess patients systematically for care needs, changes in condition or behavior, and responses to treatment.
  • Administer and accurately record oral, intravenous, and other medications according to provider orders and established protocols.
  • Independently administer nursing care using simple and complex techniques specific to patient needs.
  • Delegate care in accordance with the Massachusetts Nurse Practice Act and Sturdy Health guidelines.
  • Maintain detailed patient records, including assessments, interventions, treatment responses, and individualized nursing plans of care.
  • Provide emotional support and guidance to patients and families coping with illness and treatment.
  • Educate patients and families about conditions, treatment options, health maintenance, and illness prevention.
  • Respond to medical emergencies by providing first aid and initiating appropriate interventions.
  • Maintain patient confidentiality.
  • Use and maintain medical equipment, including monitors, intravenous pumps, and ventilators.
  • Participate in quality assessment and improvement initiatives and contribute to best practices in patient care.
  • Develop and maintain positive relationships across areas of responsibility.
  • Demonstrate commitment to customer relations, continuous quality improvement, and prevention of errors reaching patients.
  • Perform Charge Nurse duties as assigned.
  • Remain current on nursing practice developments.
  • Keep licensure, certifications, and competencies current.
  • Apply a growth mindset and maintain a spirit of inquiry.
  • Incorporate research and evidence-based practice.
  • Ensure compliance with research protocols.
