Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Ability to perform cleaning tasks such as mopping, reaching, bending, and operating floor equipment including vacuum cleaners, autoscrubbers, and buffers.
  • Ability to meet the Department of Labor's Heavy Duty Standard.
  • Ability to wear appropriate personal protective equipment for an extended period of time.
  • Ability to work around communicable diseases, body fluids, and different types of cleaning chemicals.
  • Ability to be scheduled based on the hospital's operational needs.
  • Ability to deal tactfully and harmoniously with guests.
  • Understanding of assigned areas, necessary supplies, and equipment.
  • Ability to read and follow written work assignments.
Responsibilities
  • Inspect and ensure that assigned areas are properly cleaned and in good repair, reporting problems to the supervisor.
  • Clean assigned areas, including patient rooms, exam rooms, public areas, toilets, procedure rooms, operating rooms, offices, and equipment, according to established procedures.
  • Remove trash from assigned areas.
  • Replenish paper towels, toilet paper, and soap in assigned areas.
  • Make beds in patient discharge rooms and on-call rooms according to established cleaning procedures.
  • Maintain assigned equipment in clean, working condition, and report problems and suggestions to the supervisor.
  • Move equipment, furniture, and boxes; wash walls; and spot-clean carpets as assigned.
  • Follow all safety and sanitation regulations.
  • Complete annual education related to specialty accreditation requirements where applicable.
