Shipping & Receiving Supervisor - Grand Rapids
DISHER is currently partnered with a seating manufacturer in Grand Rapids to help fill their Shipping & Receiving Supervisor position. In this role, you will be responsible for supervising and managing the shipping and receiving departmental functions, daily shipping coordination, and negotiating shipping contracts. You will also oversee staff and manage logistics processes such as export shipping, barcode technologies, movement of material, material storage, and freight requests.

What you’ll do:
- Oversees receiving and shipping operational processes and methods to attain a minimum of 95% inventory accuracy
- Negotiates all contracts for inbound and outbound freight
- Researches and implements freight cost savings opportunities.
- Main liaison with our external assembly supplier and coordinates inbound/outbound components in support of production schedules
- Meets departmental and corporate goals through continuous improvement
- Monitors and evaluates performance of team members
- Responds to Customer Concerns assigned thru Workflow portal in a timely manner
- Supports new software and hardware technologies to improve efficiencies and attain cost savings
- Oversees the movement of material from receiving to warehouse for proper storage
- Performs weekly cycle counts of areas as assigned
- Manages area for Safety, Quality, Delivery and Efficiency
What will make you successful:
- Associate Degree in Manufacturing or Business is preferred
- At least two years of supervisory experience in a manufacturing environment
- Strong leadership skills to influence team members
- Ability to accurately and effectively communicate both verbally and in writing
- Must have extensive knowledge of logistics and warehouse processes
- Experience working in a union environment is preferred
- Background in Lean Manufacturing or Six Sigma
