Requirements
  • A bachelor's degree in a technical, scientific, or business-related discipline is preferred.
  • Three years of related work experience as a complaint handler in the medical device industry, performing the described complaint-handling duties.
  • Knowledge of medical terms and Medical Device Reporting regulations.
  • Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail.

Responsibilities
  • Process complaints in a timely manner by coordinating and prioritizing complaint investigations.
  • Communicate with health care providers, health care provider staff, and patients to acquire relevant complaint information.
  • Receive, review, and enter product complaint information into the complaints database.
  • Participate in root cause investigations with cross-functional teams, including Quality, Engineering, and contract manufacturing organizations.
  • Coordinate and facilitate meetings to discuss complaints, prepare meeting minutes, and follow up on action items.
  • Contribute to the development and improvement of complaint-handling procedures, work instructions, and forms.
  • Escalate issues to management and support corrective and preventive action activities when necessary.
  • Provide customer communication and follow-up regarding complaint resolution status as appropriate.
  • Evaluate complaint information and determine appropriate regulatory reporting requirements.
  • Prepare and submit reports to the United States Food and Drug Administration and other regulatory agencies within required timeframes.
  • Respond to inquiries from customers, regulators, and others as needed.
  • Prepare and analyze trend reports on a monthly, annual, and ad hoc basis.
  • Assist with post-market surveillance activities as needed.
  • Maintain the confidentiality and integrity of complaint files and records.
  • Notify the manager or supervisor immediately of on-the-job injuries or accidents.
Desired Qualifications
  • Experience with the United States Food and Drug Administration Quality Management System Regulation, ISO 13485, European Union Medical Device Regulation, and other global requirements.
  • Experience with corrective and preventive action activities and post-market surveillance.

Spectrum Vascular has acquired Piccolo Medical, a developer of catheter guidance technology, to accelerate commercialisation of next-generation vascular access solutions. Piccolo CEO Augustus Shanahan will join Spectrum alongside his team to advance the company's 510(k)-cleared catheter guidance products. Piccolo's technology uses proprietary blood flow sensing to guide catheter tip placement in real time, eliminating the need for confirmatory chest X-rays. The company completed its first successful patient placements of the Nav+ Stylet in May 2026. Founded in 2016 and based in San Francisco, Piccolo was spun out of the Theranova medical device incubator.
