Requirements
  • M.S. degree in Civil, Structural, Coastal, or Ocean Engineering
  • 4+ years of experience in waterfront/marine/port/ocean engineering
  • Experience with ASCE MOP 130, ASCE 61, PIANC Guidelines is a plus
  • Registered professional engineer in the United States, or ability to obtain within 12 months of joining SGH
  • Communication skills: excellent written, oral and verbal communication skills; Ability to convey information to internal and external clients clearly
  • Problem-solving ability: capability to solve minor or complex problems using data, logic, and judgment. Strong attention to detail with excellent analytical skills
  • Ability to travel for client meetings and business development, including some overnight travel
Responsibilities
  • Inspect, evaluate, analyze, and design a variety of marine, waterfront, port, and harbor structures, facilities, and infrastructure
  • Support waterfront stabilization and resiliency projects that involve wind, wave, current, tide, flood, sea level rise, mooring, berthing, and seismic loads
  • Prepare calculations for project components that may include concrete, steel, aluminum, composite, and timber elements
  • Prepare technical reports
  • Develop construction drawings, technical specifications, and cost estimates
  • Provide construction administration and field observation
  • Assist with training, mentoring, and managing junior staff and interns
  • Assist in proposal development and business development efforts
