About This Position
The Manager, Portfolio Finance will be a key team member of the broader Capital Markets Team responsible for maintaining, tracking and optimizing structured project finance transactions, including non-recourse debt, tax equity, portfolio financings, interest rate management products, and hybrid facilities. This position will report to the Director, Treasury & Portfolio Finance and work closely with members of the Project Finance and Asset Management organizations. The Manager will be instrumental in building out this growing function and serve as the interface with investors and lenders once a transaction has closed. This role requires a willingness and ability to oversee and maintain multiple large, complex projects simultaneously, while also interfacing internally with Origination & Trading, Asset Management, and Corporate Finance. This role will work closely with internal and external stakeholders on consents, amendments, refinancing’s, buyouts, and other commercial negotiations, including but not limited to the execution of new offtake agreements, casualty events, under/over performance of assets, and covenant maintenance.
Overview of Department
The Capital Markets department is currently composed of Project Finance, Portfolio Finance, and Treasury. This position will be a key member of the Portfolio Finance team, which supports the financial needs of our projects post-FNTP. This team coordinates closely with the Asset Management, Origination and Trading, and Corporate Finance departments in addition to other teams within Capital Markets.
Responsibilities and Duties
- Oversee various project or portfolio transactions that have moved from origination and financial close into ongoing maintenance, including construction financing, tax equity, portfolio financing, and hybrid facilities.
- Negotiate with external capital providers on amendments, consents, restructurings, buyouts, and refinancings, and maintain compliance with financing structures.
- Oversee modeling efforts to value projects or portfolios of projects once the projects are in construction and operation.
- Manage ongoing construction financing or hybrid facility draws and Tax Equity mechanical and substantial completion fundings.
- Liaise with and support Asset Management on normal course reporting and consent processes.
- Serve as a thought-leader and subject matter expert in cross-functional initiatives surrounding changes in tax law and evolution of power market structures.
Qualifications and Skills
- THIS ROLE REQUIRES EXPERIENCE WITH RENEWABLE ENERGY TAX EQUITY
- 5-10 years of proven track record in project finance.
- Bachelor’s Degree. Advanced degrees or certifications are a plus.
- Significant and relevant experience maintaining or structuring project finance or non-recourse structures, as well as proven track record maintaining banking and investor relationships.
- Significant and relevant experience with financial modeling for large, complex infrastructure or power generation assets.
- Experience with different types of power generation, including solar, wind, battery storage, gas-fired, or nuclear is required.
- Experience with tax equity or other tax advantaged transactions is required.
