Requirements
  • Must be at least 21 years of age.
  • Must be willing to become an armed officer while employed with SSM Health.
  • Must successfully complete a psychological evaluation through a third-party company.
  • Must have a valid Missouri driver's license and pass a motor vehicle record check.
  • Must complete the applicable background check and drug screening.
  • Must have a high school diploma or GED, or 10 years of work experience.
  • Must successfully complete a psychological assessment following a conditional offer of employment.
  • Must provide a Motor Vehicle Report and a driver's license issued in the United States.
  • For work in St. Charles County, must hold a St. Charles County Security Officer License or a Security Officer License issued by the St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department.
Responsibilities
  • Protect property and staff by conducting interior and exterior rounds, observing safety and security issues and theft, and monitoring parking lots.
  • Promote visitor and employee safety by performing door checks, detecting lighting deficiencies, confirming proper elevator operation, assisting with disruptive individuals and patient restraints, and providing escorts to staff and clients when requested.
  • Respond to overhead pages and requests for assistance, escort emergency personnel through the building, and provide post-mortem services.
  • Provide professional customer service in complex and dynamic situations and proactively identify safety and security hazards by communicating with clinical staff.
  • Observe and report security concerns and assessments, complete incident reports and shift logs, and forward them to appropriate individuals.
  • Provide maintenance assistance through property conservation and campus safety activities, including alarm testing, checking life-safety equipment, automated external defibrillators, oxygen tanks, fire extinguishers, access control, badging, and door-integrity checks.
  • Enforce organizational policies and procedures.
  • Assist with monitoring, reviewing, and investigating incidents using the video management system.
  • Operate a motor vehicle to patrol when needed.
  • Work in a constant state of alertness and in a safe manner.
  • Perform other assigned duties.
