Requirements
  • Graduate from an ARRT-recognized education program, or be ARRT registered or registry eligible.
  • Obtain ARRT registration in Mammography within one year of hire; New Jersey staff must be registered before the date of hire.
  • Have computer usage experience.
  • Maintain continuing education on an ongoing basis to assure quality studies.
  • Hold current CPR certification.
  • Meet the physical requirements of frequent hand and finger use, positioning and operating equipment, pushing, pulling and lifting up to 30 pounds, standing and walking for up to six hours per day, sitting for up to two hours per day, and occasional stooping, bending, and crouching.
Responsibilities
  • Perform diagnostic mammographic and stereotactic examinations according to department procedures and under the direction of the Department Section Chief, Site Manager, and Network Director of Women’s Imaging.
  • Provide technical continuity of care for patients during mammography and stereotactic procedures.
  • Communicate clinical observations from mammographic and stereotactic examinations to radiologists and surgeons, and present the patient's clinical history using appropriate documentation.
  • Assist with breast localizations performed using mammography guidance.
  • Use the Radiology Information System, Hospital Information System, and mammography reader system appropriate to the job responsibilities.
  • Gather and record quality assurance data for the Radiology Quality Assurance and Performance Improvement Program.
  • Ensure equipment quality control is completed.
  • Teach and train students in mammography technology when applicable at the site.
  • Maintain American College of Radiology mammography quality assurance criteria.
  • Maintain professional development through active participation in in-service and continuing education programs.
  • Provide patients with educational information regarding their examinations.
Desired Qualifications
  • ARRT registration in Mammography.
  • At least one year of experience as a staff technologist.
  • At least one year of experience in mammography.
