Requirements
  • Graduation from an accredited School of Nursing.
  • At least one year of work-related experience as a Registered Nurse.
  • Skill in using standard software applications.
  • Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing and maintain effective working relationships.
  • Must be licensed as a Registered Nurse in the State of Texas.
  • Must possess a valid Texas driver's license with a good driving record.
  • Ability to work overtime and weekends with advance notice when requested by the department.
  • Ability to withstand prolonged standing, walking, and sitting.
  • Ability to lift up to 25 pounds unassisted.
  • Ability to travel to various worksite locations.
  • For juvenile assignments, ability to work within a secured facility, restrain or chase youths, and remain on call 24 hours for unit emergencies.
Responsibilities
  • Obtain medical histories and perform physical assessments and investigations.
  • Administer appropriate treatments and immunizations and obtain laboratory specimens.
  • Conduct comprehensive educational counseling for patients and other professionals.
  • Function as a preceptor for patients and other agencies.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
