Requirements
  • A Master's degree in a related field or a terminal degree with two years of post-doctoral experience is required.
  • Five years of experience is required, depending on education level.

Responsibilities
  • Operate cytometers and cell sorters independently, including setup and quality control.
  • Train users on analyzers and train or assist research personnel in using analysis software.
  • Troubleshoot instruments and develop new methodologies in response to investigator requests.
  • Assist with analyzing data and analyze and prepare preliminary data files.
  • Assist with billing, maintain laboratory cleanliness and inventory, and perform regular data backups.
  • Assign and review the work and outcomes for projects completed by assistants.
  • Collaborate with the research team by communicating and reporting pertinent information about assigned systems.
  • Analyze data for research grants and publications and prepare scientific presentations for department meetings.
  • Perform research experiments and incorporate novel procedures and methods into research experiments as appropriate.
  • Maintain accurate records of research and data collection.
  • Establish and maintain quality control of project operations.
  • Write and maintain regulatory and safety committee applications and protocols.
  • Identify corrective-action and process-improvement opportunities, provide recommendations, and contribute to departmental and hospital quality and safety targets.
  • Use resources efficiently, manage time, and prioritize daily tasks.
  • Assist with ensuring orders are charged to the appropriate grants.
  • Participate in grant writing.
  • Determine research project goals and objectives and assume responsibility and oversight for achieving them.
  • Identify personal development needs, complete career discussions with management, and maintain an individual development plan.
Desired Qualifications
  • Prior demonstrable knowledge of BD FACS Diva systems, especially AriaII sorting systems, is preferred.
