About the role:
Hex is hiring an experienced leader to build out the next evolution of our security program. The Security team’s responsibility is to safeguard Hex, our staff, and our customers while enabling us to continue building the best-in-class product that customers love.
In this role, you will:
- Define what a world-class security program looks like at Hex and the roadmap for achieving it over the next phase of the company journey
- Hire and grow a team of incredible contributors across Security, IT, and Compliance
- Accelerate Engineering and Sales with thoughtful use of effective and preventative measures, such as tooling, automation, and process to enable the company to move quickly while reducing risk
- Partner with the rest of the executive team in defining technical and business strategy and priorities, particularly as we move further up market
- Be the trusted face of the company security program for external partners and customers both in person and by ensuring our security practices are well-articulated and documented for universal consumption
About You:
You have:
- 8+ years of experience building and leading security programs including securing highly technical products such as infrastructure, data, or dev tools and scaling the team beyond 5+ people
- Love of collaboration with partners – technical and non-technical – across the organization
- Excellent communication skills for collaboration and driving strategic decisions at the highest levels of the organization, including cross-functional partners, the executive team, and the board
- High-performance but empathetic people management and a track record of “I’d-follow-them-anywhere” relationships
- Passion for building in high-growth startup environments
- A keen sense for business and customer value and excitement for engaging directly with customers and field teams

The salary range for this role is: $252,000 - $346,500
The salary range shown may be a reflection of additional factors such as geographical location and skill ranges/levels we’re open to. Placement in the salary range will be decided upon completion of the interview process, taking into account factors like leaving room for growth, internal fairness & parity, your demonstrated skills, and the depth of your experience.
