Requirements
  • A high school diploma, General Educational Development credential, or equivalent experience is required.
  • Completion of an electrocardiogram or rhythm interpretation course is required.
  • At least one year of current experience as a Unit Secretary and Monitor Technician in an acute-care setting is preferred.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in English verbally and in writing is required.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology is required.
  • Data-entry computer skills are required.
  • A current Basic Cardiac Life Support card from the American Heart Association is required.
  • AB 508 Certification is required for Emergency Department/Geropsych assignments; if not held upon hire, it must be obtained within 30 days of hire.
  • Successful completion of a rhythm-recognition examination is required.
Responsibilities
  • Perform clerical and communication functions on the assigned nursing unit.
  • Monitor patients for arrhythmias and alert appropriate personnel as needed.
  • Provide courteous reception on the nursing unit.
  • Coordinate activities for patient care.
