  • Demonstrated past ownership of complex projects.
  • Ability to understand from first principles, not rely on the answers output from a mystery tool.
  • Experience designing mass-efficient mechanisms which operate in harsh environments.
  • Knowledge of loads such as pressure, vibration, shock, thermal, and how to design for them.
  • 2+ years of experience in mechanical or aerospace engineering.
  • Familiarity with CAD and Analysis packages such as NX, Simcenter, FEMAP and NASTRAN or similar.
  • Strong understanding and application of drafting standards and GD&T (ASME Y14.5) in creating drawings.
  • Bachelor’s degree in an applicable field.
  • To conform to U.S. Government space technology export regulations, including the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) you must be a U.S. citizen, lawful permanent resident of the U.S., protected individual as defined by 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3), or eligible to obtain the required authorizations from the U.S. Department of State.
Responsibilities
  • Challenge the status quo.
  • Deliver integrated mechanical solutions optimized for packaging, build, and operations in support of subsystems such as propulsion, avionics, thermal systems, ECLSS, and structures.
  • Own the full product lifecycle of mechanical systems from requirements definition to orbital data review.
  • Create detailed component and assembly drawings incorporating an understanding of GD&T and tolerance stack-ups.
  • Diagnose and operate vehicle mechanisms during ground testing and flight.
  • Work with suppliers and our manufacturing team to make your designs a reality.
  • Be a reliable expert of your system, from concept to mission control console.
