What You Will Contribute To Altos

An exciting opportunity is available for a Research Associate to join the Zhang Lab in the Altos Labs San Diego Institute of Science. Specifically, we are looking for an individual to assist in developing and optimizing cell models and conducting phenotypic assays (90% of time). This individual will also be responsible for sectioning tissue samples from animal models for genomics analysis (10% of time). The individual must be detail-oriented, have strong communication skills, and be willing to work in a dynamic, fast-growing environment.

Responsibilities

• Maintain cell culture models and generate of stable cell lines.
• Conduct phenotypic in vitro assays across different cell types.
• Process human/animal tissue samples through tissue sectioning protocols.
• Thoroughly document processes and results.
• Assist with routine lab tasks (e.g. lab management, ordering, receiving).
• Present findings at internal group meetings.

Who You Are

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree plus at least two years of wet lab experience in a molecular and cell biology lab (industry or academia).
• Experience with the following:
  • Mammalian cell culture experience is required.
  • Familiarity with basic molecular biology techniques is required.
  • Tissue cryosectioning and microscopy required.
• Excellent record keeping skills in a lab setting (familiarity with ELNs preferred).
• Ability to maintain cooperative working relationships with a broad range of people.
• Demonstrated high productivity and ability to complete work in a timely manner.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with stable cell line generation and cell-based phenotypic assays.
• Experience with lentivirus, AAV, or other virus generation
• Cell dissociation and/or nuclei extraction.
• Familiarity with genomics, transcriptomics and/or metabolomics assays.

The salary range for San Diego, CA:

• Research Associate I: $80,750 - $109,250
• Research Associate II: $96,900 - $131,100
• Senior Research Associate: $111,350 - $150,650
