Requirements
  • An active Department of Defense Top Secret clearance with Sensitive Compartmented Information eligibility is required.
  • A degree in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mathematics, Physics, or Computer Science, or equivalent practical, military, or intelligence-community experience, is required.
  • At least 8 years of hands-on experience in Digital Signal Processing, Software Defined Radio, and RF communications development, including technical lead or architecture roles, is required.
  • Deep knowledge of terrestrial RF communications systems, channel dynamics, and signal structures across the HF, VHF, and UHF bands is required.
  • Extensive experience in RF reverse engineering, signal parameter estimation, protocol disassembly, and target waveform regeneration is required.
  • A proven track record architecting software-driven DSP pipelines using C++, Python, GNU Radio, or REDHAWK, with an emphasis on real-time signal processing, is required.
Responsibilities
  • Architect, design, and implement advanced Software Defined Radio and Digital Signal Processing solutions for terrestrial tactical radios across HF, VHF, and UHF bands in a Linux environment.
  • Reverse engineer complex terrestrial commercial off-the-shelf and proprietary RF devices to map transceiver logic, demodulate legacy and custom tactical waveforms, and extract framing parameters.
  • Synthesize and generate custom tactical RF waveforms from reverse-engineered signal parameters, including frequency-hopping, direct-sequence spread spectrum, and low-probability-of-intercept/low-probability-of-detection signals.
  • Develop algorithms to detect, identify, feature-extract, and decode captured complex tactical communications signals in harsh multipath and co-channel interference environments.
  • Implement end-to-end transmit and receive signal chains using modulation schemes including FSK, PSK, and QAM.
  • Direct laboratory build-outs, select advanced SDR hardware and test equipment, and execute field or laboratory RF experiments to validate synthesized tactical signals.
  • Solve high-level technical challenges across tactical communications, signal intelligence, spectrum management, and electronic warfare domains.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert in HF/VHF/UHF propagation, signal generation, and DSP while guiding cross-functional teams in a rapid-prototyping environment.
Desired Qualifications
  • Familiarity with modern military and public-safety tactical radio standards, waveforms, and networking protocols, including MIL-STD-188-110, STANAG, SINCGARS, HAVE QUICK, P25, and MANET/mesh networking.
  • Strong understanding of terrestrial RF phenomena, including ground-wave and sky-wave HF propagation, urban multipath fading, troposcatter, and Doppler-spread mitigation.
  • Experience with electronic-warfare countermeasures, anti-jam techniques, low-probability-of-intercept/low-probability-of-detection waveform design, and adaptive filtering/interference mitigation.
  • Experience with reverse-engineering tools such as Ghidra, IDA Pro, or binary-analysis frameworks for embedded tactical-radio firmware.
  • Expertise in forward error correction, including convolutional, Turbo, and LDPC coding; Viterbi and Reed-Solomon decoding; interleaving; frame synchronization; and equalization algorithms.

Users can plan and execute campaigns in hours rather than weeks, with some reporting an 85% time savings.
