Requirements
  • A High School Diploma or GED is required, and official transcripts must be provided.
  • Good understanding of laboratory systems, laboratory information systems, and automated laboratory equipment.
  • Ability to use computer technology to access data, maintain records, and generate reports.
  • Knowledge of instructional programs sufficient to support laboratory learning.
  • Ability to instruct credit classes in the absence of the assigned instructor.
  • Ability to collaborate and work with students, faculty, and staff.
  • Ability to provide instruction to students in non-credit and non-transferable courses.
  • Knowledge of the safe use and disposition of hazardous chemicals.
  • Ability to perform laboratory tests, including pre-analytic and post-analytic phases.
  • Ability to document activities, record results, and insert and retrieve data.
  • Strong organizational, multitasking, detail-oriented, decision-making, follow-up, and task-completion abilities.
  • Knowledge and experience providing effective customer service.
  • Ability to meet regular and predictable attendance requirements.
  • Ability to occasionally lift and carry materials weighing up to 50 pounds.
Responsibilities
  • Under supervision, prepare laboratory experiments and exercises necessary to demonstrate learning experiences taught by the course instructor in a lecture environment.
  • Assist in supervising laboratory activities to ensure a safe learning environment.
  • Provide clerical support by ordering, cataloging, and maintaining laboratory supplies and equipment.
  • Assist with preparing reports and correspondence.
  • Assist students by clarifying course assignments, lectures, tests, and laboratory exercises.
  • Work with students individually and in small groups to demonstrate procedures and the use of equipment and materials.
  • Assist the instructor by selecting tests from test banks, administering examinations, and recording grades.
  • Participate in developing curriculum and resources when assigned.
  • Participate in periodic inventories of capital equipment.
  • Troubleshoot minor equipment repairs and coordinate major repairs with vendors or the college repair department when assigned.
  • Maintain related records and provide information required for decision-making.
  • Complete required Dallas College professional development training hours each academic year.
  • Perform related duties as assigned.
  • Provide customer service and interact with internal and external stakeholders within the Dallas College community network.

  • Bilingual ability is preferred.
