Requirements
  • A Bachelor's degree or higher.
  • The equivalent of 15 semester credit hours in the subject field.
  • Academic preparation in the specific courses taught.
  • Graduation from a program in the healthcare field.
  • A minimum of three years of occupational experience.
  • An active industry certification or licensure when consistent with employment in the healthcare field of instruction, maintained as required by the state and accrediting commissions.
  • Professional verbal and written English communication skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, and business tools such as Teams.
  • Ability to support a diverse and inclusive work environment.
  • Ability to work on campus in an office, classroom, and laboratory setting and visit employer and healthcare facility sites as needed.
  • Ability to work evenings and weekends as needed.
  • Ability to perform all program clinical skills and the listed physical demands, including standing, walking, sitting, bending, lifting, grasping, fine motor control, balance, visual and auditory perception, and clear speech.
Responsibilities
  • Teach material from the approved curriculum according to assigned schedules and deadlines.
  • Prepare for each week of instruction and demonstrate proficiency with relevant software, course content, and materials.
  • Evaluate student coursework against stated learning outcomes and support students in achieving the required level.
  • Grade assignments and assessments and post grades in a timely manner.
  • Provide constructive feedback highlighting student strengths and areas needing improvement.
  • Continuously evaluate and review formative and summative assessment results to inform students of their academic status.
  • Remain available to students through posted office hours and individual sessions.
  • Establish and maintain a positive, student-centered learning environment.
  • Create and implement curricular scaffolding tools and materials that address student learning styles and academic needs.
  • Provide academic support and intervention for students who need it.
  • Monitor student achievement and proactively contact at-risk students to support course persistence and program retention.
  • Communicate with students, instructors, supervisors, and other school personnel by email, telephone, and in person.
  • Supervise student externship experiences as assigned.
  • Provide tutoring and open laboratory skills instruction as assigned.
  • Provide distance education through the online learning management system as assigned.
  • Attend required and assigned program and institutional meetings.
  • Advise students on academics, attendance, career readiness, and professionalism.
  • Participate in curriculum development and review based on subject-area expertise, industry trends, and student performance and engagement indicators.
  • Communicate identified barriers to student success to leadership and participate in developing solutions.
  • Maintain an up-to-date faculty file in accordance with institutional policy, state regulations, and accrediting commission requirements.
  • Complete required meetings, in-service training, and continuing education units.
  • Follow applicable federal and state compliance requirements, Department of Education requirements, accrediting-agency requirements, CIE requirements, and institutional policies and procedures.
  • Communicate compliance requirements to students and staff and escalate compliance concerns to the Compliance department.
  • Keep current on institutional goals, objectives, and progress.
  • Participate in institution-sponsored activities and initiatives as appropriate.
  • Support organizational change initiatives.
  • Coordinate efforts between departments within the institution.
Desired Qualifications
  • Experience with Microsoft Office Suite, including Word and Excel.
  • Experience with Brightspace or another learning management system.
  • Experience with CampusNexus or another student information system.
  • Experience with Brightspace or another asynchronous instructional tool.
  • One to three years of post-secondary teaching experience.
  • Demonstrated success applying adult-learning principles and best practices to achieve program and course learning objectives.
