Beetaloo Energy partners with Halliburton to develop natural gas plant for proposed data center in Australia - report. Up to 2GW of natural gas generation is planned for the site July 30, 2026 Australian oil and gas company Beetaloo Energy and US energy services provider Halliburton have signed a non-binding memorandum of understanding (MoU) to develop a gas power plant and data center in Australia's Northern Territory. As part of the agreement, Halliburton will provide technical expertise to assess and develop gas resources for Beetaloo Digital, a report from Reuters said. Beetaloo Digital was launched earlier this month and is expected to be the primary developer of a dedicated natural gas power solution for a proposed data center located on a 185-hectare site at Weddell, close to Darwin. Halliburton is expected to provide expertise in field development, drilling, project execution and scalable gas-fired power generation. The Weddell project is expected to be based on gas resources in the Beetaloo Basin. The development of the project is predicated on the success of concept studies, partner agreements, financing, and regulatory approvals. According to Beetaloo CEO Alex Underwood, the deal is part of a broader strategy to bring together a coalition of specialist partners across gas supply, power generation, pipelines, and data center development. Earlier reports suggest up to 2GW of on-site gas-powered power generation is planned on the site, with the potential for AU$40 billion (US$28bn) to be invested. At least four large-scale data center buildings are planned, according to renderings. The site is near the government's proposed Darwin Energy Hub. The hub aims to host up to 210MW of solar capacity and battery storage on 940 acres. Beetalo Energy is an ASX-listed upstream gas company focused on gas resources in the Beetaloo Basin in Australia's Northern Territory. The firm owns millions of acres in the Northern Territory and is targeting commercial gas production this year. Halliburton has signed several deals in the data center space over recent years. Most notably, it partnered with modular power solutions provider VoltaGrid to develop and deploy distributed power generation systems for the global data center sector. More in australasia.
Kaishan Co., Ltd. and Halliburton reach Strategic Cooperation to jointly expand geothermal and green hydrogen & ammonia business. Published: Jul 26, 2026 18:42 Recently, Kaishan Group Co., Ltd. and Halliburton Energy Services, Inc. signed a Strategic Cooperation Memorandum in Loxley, Alabama. The two parties will combine their technological and resource advantages in the energy sector to further deepen their cooperation and jointly promote the innovation and application of low-carbon energy technologies. According to the memorandum, Halliburton will leverage its global leading advantages in high-temperature high-pressure complex well construction, directional drilling, fracturing, and digital intelligent drilling technologies; while Kaishan will rely on its accumulated experience in modular geothermal power generation equipment manufacturing, integrated development of the entire geothermal industry chain, and green hydrogen and ammonia project development. The two parties plan to cooperate on high-efficiency, low-cost EGS drilling and power generation solutions. In terms of specific cooperation directions, the two parties intend to actively seek cooperation opportunities in low-carbon and renewable energy projects, covering geothermal energy development, emerging new energy fields, as well as enhanced geothermal system (EGS) development, drilling optimization, integrated engineering implementation of geothermal projects, digital drilling and subsurface optimization technologies, green hydrogen production and green ammonia projects, and clean energy infrastructure. At the same time, the two parties will explore the deployment of modular geothermal power generation systems and study the feasibility of integrating Halliburton's drilling technologies with Kaishan's power generation equipment. According to the cooperation arrangement, the two parties will exchange technical knowledge and best practices, evaluate potential project opportunities, and jointly consider project strategies and execution plans. Specific projects, cooperation mechanisms, and commercial terms will need to be further negotiated and confirmed in subsequent definitive agreements, which may include a Strategic Agreement and/or a Master Service Agreement. The advancement of this strategic cooperation will further expand the development space for Kaishan's new energy business. Relying on Halliburton's technical strength and project execution network in the global energy service sector, Kaishan is expected to introduce advanced drilling technologies into its own geothermal development system, enhance its capability to independently develop EGS resources, and explore participation in emerging energy innovation projects worldwide. Furthermore, the two parties also plan to leverage Halliburton's experience in global project execution and engineering management to extend the scope of cooperation from traditional geothermal power generation to high-value-added application fields, including the use of geothermal power to produce green hydrogen and green fuels. Currently, this memorandum is a project cooperation arrangement, and the related work is still in the project development and technical validation stages. It is expected that it will not have a significant impact on Kaishan's operating performance for the fiscal year 2026. The center also includes three private family rooms and a children's area. "This new facility is going to allow us to expand services and provide more programs for our clients. We are so excited to open up for our community. This has been 26 years in the making for us," said Beth Guidry, the PR coordinator for Miles Perret Cancer Services. Miles Perret is also working to bring counseling services on-site and expand its focus on the well-being of their clients, even dedicating areas to be wig and prosthetic fitting rooms. "We want everyone in the community to know that the services that we provide are free," Guidry said. "Anyone can come to us that does receive a diagnosis, and we encourage everyone, if you haven't been affected by cancer or you know someone that has been, to please let them know that we're here, and we want to serve them."
