Requirements

Responsibilities
  • Research, design, develop, analyze, test, implement, deploy, operate, and continuously improve enterprise software solutions supporting the university's strategic objectives.
  • Provide technical leadership, architectural guidance, technical direction, and subject-matter expertise within assigned domains.
  • Lead design reviews, code reviews, and technical decision-making activities.
  • Mentor and coach engineers through pair programming, knowledge sharing, and technical leadership.
  • Promote engineering excellence through standards, best practices, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Translate functional and non-functional requirements into scalable technical designs.
  • Evaluate architectural trade-offs involving performance, scalability, reliability, maintainability, security, and cost.
  • Identify gaps, risks, and dependencies early and propose practical solutions.
  • Contribute to long-term technology strategy and modernization efforts.
  • Design and develop cloud-native applications and services using AWS and modern cloud technologies.
  • Implement scalable microservices and API-first architectures.
  • Use event-driven architecture patterns and messaging platforms to support distributed systems.
  • Contribute to infrastructure automation and cloud governance practices.
  • Own production health and operational readiness for assigned services and applications.
  • Participate in incident response, root cause analysis, problem management, and service restoration activities.
  • Partner with Site Reliability Engineering, Infrastructure, and Operations teams to improve system resilience.
  • Identify recurring operational issues and drive permanent corrective actions.
  • Establish monitoring, alerting, and observability practices that proactively identify issues before customer impact occurs.
  • Develop and maintain CI/CD pipelines for safe, reliable, and repeatable software deployments.
  • Automate build, testing, deployment, and operational workflows.
  • Contribute to Infrastructure as Code initiatives and environment standardization.
  • Define and implement Service Level Indicators, Service Level Objectives, and operational dashboards.
  • Use telemetry, logs, traces, and metrics to improve system performance and reliability.
  • Establish alerting strategies that reduce noise while improving responsiveness.
  • Use operational metrics and engineering KPIs to guide decision-making.
  • Apply secure coding practices throughout the software development lifecycle.
  • Participate in threat modeling, security reviews, and vulnerability remediation activities.
  • Ensure solutions comply with organizational security, privacy, and regulatory requirements.
  • Collaborate with Product Managers, Architects, Quality Assurance Engineers, Security Engineers, Infrastructure teams, and business stakeholders.
  • Present solutions, trade-offs, recommendations, and risks clearly.
  • Identify opportunities to improve engineering productivity, platform reliability, and customer experience.
  • Evaluate emerging technologies and industry trends for potential adoption.
  • Drive continuous improvement through automation, simplification, and modernization.
  • Use AI-assisted engineering tools to improve development efficiency and software quality.
