Outpost builds and sells a low-mass, two-stage re-entry system for satellites that enables return to Earth and reuse. The system is fully deployable and compatible with any current launch provider, handling up to 125 kg of payload. It reduces space debris by allowing satellites to be recovered rather than discarded, and it can be used with multiple operators and space agencies through sales and service contracts. Outpost differentiates itself by emphasizing sustainability, launcher-agnostic compatibility, and a service-oriented model rather than just hardware. The goal is to make space operations more efficient and less wasteful, supporting cost-effective, scalable access to space for a growing set of customers.

Simplify's Take

What believers are saying

  • July 2026 named Gen. Andrew Poppas, strengthening defense credibility and procurement access.
  • Outpost's 2024 NASA and AFWERX awards validate demand for return-from-orbit capabilities.
  • Pre-booked missions and 2026 website updates signal customer interest before orbital debut.

What critics are saying

  • Carryall's first orbital flight slips to 2028, stretching commercialization and revenue timing.
  • Reusable re-entry hardware faces catastrophic failure risk; one accident kills customer trust instantly.
  • SpaceX and Rocket Lab can undercut pricing, while Outpost still lacks flight heritage.

What makes Outpost unique

  • Outpost's Carryall and Ferryall target precise Earth return, not one-way launch disposal.
  • The company won NASA and Air Force backing for re-entry and hypersonic missions.
  • Mission Manifest shows booked government and commercial demand through 2030.
