Job Description:
Parsons is looking for an amazingly talented Technical Lead – Contaminated Sites/Waste Management, Infrastructure Sector to join our team! In this role you will get to work closely with a variety of professionals on Contaminated Sites and Infrastructure Projects.
What You’ll Be Doing:
The responsibilities for this position will include project management, directing investigations, design and/or preparing reports for environmental site investigation (ESA), excess soil planning, and remediation projects, primarily in support of our infrastructure engineering teams and public sector clients. Specific job description includes but is not limited to the following:
- Provide technical leadership and project management and technical support related to infrastructure projects, including investigations, remediation design and excess soil planning, investigation and management.
- Phase I and II Environmental Site Assessments to CSA and O.Reg.153/04 requirements;
- Remedial design and site remediation oversight: including excavations, ISCO, bioremediation, permeable and impermeable barriers, and mechanical technologies (air sparge, pump and treat, dual phase extraction, etc), sediment remediation, mine closures
- Excess soil and waste management on infrastructure projects, contributing to planning and design inputs as per O.Reg. 406/19
- Peer review of technical documents and reports;
- Design support of infrastructure projects (roads/highways, transit, bridges, EAs, sewers/watermains) from a waste/contamination and excess soil perspective
- Support business development activities including proposal preparation on major and minor pursuits;
- Prepare ESA, waste management, and excess soil workplans and cost estimates in support of multi-discipline engineering persuits
- Project Management and Coordination:
- ESA and remediation related projects
- Tracking and maintaining budgets and project finances;
- Preparing Reports;
- Maintain client relationships in various industries;
- Liaise and support other engineering disciplines.
- Primary point of contact with clients, junior staff, and other project managers.
- For the right candidate (to be evaluated upon joining the team) to lead our Ottawa office, which includes functional management and mentorship to E&E professionals (5 professionals currently)
What Required Skills You’ll Bring:
- Bachelor’s Degree in earth sciences, environmental/chemical/geological engineering or similar programs
- 15 + years of consulting experience at an engineering firm with strong experience in the applicable federal and provincial environmental laws and regulations within the Ontario jurisdiction
- 5+ years managing contaminated sites projects with consulting values over $100K and/or as a project manager or a technical designer; have experience providing ESA and excess soil planning services on major infrastructure projects (highways, sewers, tunnels roads)
- 10 completed projects under O.Reg. 406/19, having prepared or reviewed Assessment of Past Uses Reports, Soil Analysis Plans, Soil Characterization reports; and/or implemented excess soil planning and monitoring during construction. Preferably this experience includes working both on behalf of the Project Owner and the Contractor.
- Experience working with diverse multidiscipline and/or international project teams.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Track record of delivering high quality work products
- Strong project management acumen to deliver projects within schedule and budgets.
- Financially literate from a project management perspective
What Desired Skills You’ll Bring:
- History of managing/mentoring teams
- Experience with other environmental aspects of infrastructure projects such as Hydrogeology Assessments (EASR and PTTW applications), geotechnical, designated and hazardous substances surveys.
