Requirements
  • An associate degree from an accredited college or university is required.
  • Two or more years of experience working with children or adolescents with serious emotional, behavioral, or substance use needs is required, unless the candidate has a master's degree in an appropriate field.
  • Advanced verbal and written communication skills are required.
  • Strong leadership, organizational, documentation, and records-management skills are required.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with youth, families, courts, referring agencies, and facility staff is required.
  • Ability to manage multiple responsibilities and meet required deadlines is required.
  • Ability to pass required background checks and pre-employment screenings is required.
  • Must be in good physical health and emotionally stable.
  • Must be able to move throughout the property, participate in youth activities, and transport youth or staff when required.
  • Must meet applicable communicable-disease and health requirements.
  • Must maintain an appropriate and valid state driver's license.
  • Must meet all applicable state criminal background check and pre-employment screening requirements.
Responsibilities
  • Supervise, guide, mentor, and support all case management staff.
  • Assign and monitor caseloads while maintaining an assigned caseload as needed.
  • Assess newly admitted youth by reviewing records, communicating with referring agencies, and interviewing youth and their families.
  • Coordinate admissions, discharges, transportation, and transition planning with case managers and other facility departments.
  • Coordinate case management activities and communication with courts, referring agencies, families, and other outside partners.
  • Coordinate family visits and other family-engagement activities with the case management team.
  • Serve as a resource for staff working with courts, referring agencies, families, and outside systems.
  • Ensure required reports, correspondence, case notes, and other documentation are accurate, timely, and compliant with court, agency, contractual, and Youth Opportunity guidelines.
  • Review case files and records to ensure documentation is complete, current, and properly maintained.
  • Assist the Facility Administrator with youth- and family-related concerns.
  • Collaborate with facility leadership and members of the multidisciplinary treatment team.
  • Conduct periodic case-record reviews and support performance-improvement activities.
  • Communicate youth progress, needs, and transition recommendations to the appropriate individuals and agencies.
  • Maintain a high standard of professional and role-model behavior for youth.
  • Participate in required training and professional development activities.
  • Report acts, incidents, or conditions reflecting the possibility of inappropriate youth-to-youth or staff-to-youth relationships.
  • Report any use of physical force and all unusual incidents according to established guidelines.
  • Perform other duties as assigned or needed.
Desired Qualifications
  • A bachelor's degree in counseling, social work, psychology, rehabilitation, special education, or a related human services field.
  • Previous supervisory or case management leadership experience.
  • Experience working with local or state agencies, courts, residential programs, behavioral health programs, or juvenile services.
  • Experience with group leadership, group dynamics, and experiential education.
  • Experience supervising documentation, admissions, discharge planning, and family engagement activities.
