Requirements

  • Ability to learn new functions on office equipment and devices such as printers, scanners, projectors, mailing machines, and copiers.
  • Ability to talk and listen, stand, walk, use hands to handle or type, reach, and occasionally push, pull, lift, or carry supplies up to 20 pounds.
  • Ability to work in a social-services, shelter, or supportive-housing environment involving extended periods of sitting, computer work, walking, stair use, and standing.
  • Ability to follow safety precautions when exposed to hazardous chemicals, bloodborne pathogens, and other potentially infectious materials.
Responsibilities
  • Provide trauma-informed monitoring of activity in and around the building to ensure the safety, security, and comfort of guests, residents, participants, and staff.
  • Mediate conflicts and provide de-escalation and crisis intervention; model appropriate problem-solving and refer individuals to appropriate services as needed.
  • Assist with program activities, including meal services, laundry access or instruction, group activities, and similar activities.
  • Engage guests, residents, and participants to assess needs and provide immediate, appropriate information and referrals.
  • Respond to guest, resident, and participant issues as appropriate or as directed by program or property management.
  • Report guest, resident, participant, and building needs to management and ensure supplies and equipment are in stock.
  • Monitor security cameras, conduct periodic security rounds, check lights, doors, and windows, and investigate noise and other complaints.
  • Log actions, incidents, and rule enforcement, and report unusual or sensitive matters to the Program Coordinator or Manager.
  • Control after-hours front-door access and monitor guest, resident, and participant logs while enforcing rules and restrictions.
  • Follow building and staff safety and emergency procedures according to program and agency policies.
  • Perform assigned light janitorial duties.
  • Maintain cooperative and harmonious working relationships with agency employees.
  • Perform duties and responsibilities in a timely and effective manner in accordance with agency policies.
Desired Qualifications
  • At least one year of experience in a social or human services setting.
  • Awareness of or training around belonging, compassion, and meeting people where they are.
  • Familiarity with housing instability, mental health, substance use, sexual assault, or domestic violence topics.
  • Experience working in an environment where language may be a barrier.
  • Current Washington State Food Handler's Permit; if not current, it will be sponsored within one month of hire.
  • A degree in human or social services or a related field would complement the required experience.
