Requirements
  • A bachelor's degree is required.
  • At least two years of sponsored projects or post-award accounting experience in a high-volume, fast-paced environment are required.
  • Experience with Oracle Grants Accounting, including award setup and budget entry, or the ability to quickly learn it is required.
  • Experience with the Payment Management System is required, or the ability to quickly learn it.
  • Experience preparing invoices, vouchers, and Federal Financial Reports is required, or the ability to quickly learn these processes.
  • Strong knowledge of accounting principles related to federal grants and contracts is required.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Outlook is required.
  • The ability to interact professionally with faculty, researchers, and laboratory administrators through written and verbal communication is required.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills are required.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and the ability to work independently with minimal supervision are required.
Responsibilities
  • Serve as the primary post-award finance contact for approximately 10 research laboratories.
  • Establish and maintain award accounts in Oracle Grants Accounting, including award setup, budget entry, modifications, and closeout activities.
  • Administer grants and contracts in accordance with sponsor policies, regulations, and University guidelines.
  • Monitor grant activity and accounts receivable daily and communicate with sponsors or the Development Office regarding outstanding receivables.
  • Perform accounting and financial management for government-sponsored, foundation-sponsored, and donor-funded awards.
  • Prepare financial reports, invoices, vouchers, and sponsor billing documentation.
  • Provide direct support to Principal Investigators and laboratory administrators through written and verbal communication.
  • Identify spending irregularities, including over-expenditures and under-spending, and assist with expenditure forecasting and financial analysis.
  • Respond to unobligated balance inquiries from the Office of Sponsored Research and obtain spending plans from laboratory administrators as needed.
  • Provide backup support to other Grants Analysts.
  • Investigate and verify faculty payroll and funding transactions upon request from the Payroll Department.
  • Conduct post-award grants management training for new laboratory administrators.
  • Prepare financial status reports and analyses for senior management on an ad hoc basis.
  • Support special projects and perform other assigned duties.
Desired Qualifications
  • A degree concentration in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field is preferred.
