Requirements
  • Demonstrable experience in supporting the day-to-day management and delivery of projects.
  • Strong drafting skills, including client correspondence, pre-meeting agendas, and post-meeting notes and actions.
  • Strong organisational and task management skills, with the ability to prioritise and work to deadlines.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build relationships and communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders of varying levels of seniority.
  • Skilled use of Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, and familiarity with artificial intelligence-powered productivity tools such as Microsoft Copilot.
  • A flexible approach to supporting colleagues and the work of the wider team and organisation.
  • Self-motivated, reliable, and proactive.
Responsibilities
  • Undertake new client take-on procedures, including desk-based research and obtaining relevant anti-money laundering documentation.
  • Prepare timesheets, assist with billing, and process expense claims.
  • Conduct background research and reading on cases and clients.
  • Log incoming files and correspondence in relevant project folders.
  • Take minutes of relevant meetings.
  • Monitor client queries and assist the Monitoring Trustee team with resolving them effectively.
  • Assist with report and documentation quality assurance.
  • Assist the Monitoring Trustee team with prospective client presentations.
  • Make travel arrangements and prepare travel itineraries for the Monitoring Trustee senior team.
  • Coordinate logistics around multiple case teams and assist with calendar management and room bookings.
  • Adhere to the organisation's quality standards.
Desired Qualifications
  • Experience supporting compliance, competition, or regulatory projects.
  • A university degree.
  • Fluency in a second language.

UK accounting and advisory practice S&W has appointed Debbie Reith as partner in its research and development team in Newcastle. Reith brings over 20 years of experience in corporate tax and innovation incentives, joining from KPMG where she served as partner in the innovation reliefs and incentives team. Her career has focused on helping companies utilise tax reliefs linked to innovation and technology investment, including R&D tax credits and Patent Box incentives. The appointment aligns with S&W's expansion plans and ongoing investment across northern England. Mark Webb, S&W Business Tax head, said Reith's deep experience in R&D tax relief will prove invaluable as the firm continues supporting businesses seeking to invest and grow. Last month, S&W added two independent non-executive directors to its board.

SW accountancy firm acquires Paris-based Vachon to expand European reach

UK accountancy firm SW has acquired Paris-based Vachon, marking a significant step in its international expansion. The deal adds a 60-strong bilingual team to SW's network, which includes offices in London, Edinburgh, Birmingham, Leeds, Manchester and Newcastle. Founded in 1997, Vachon provides audit, accounting, tax, payroll and advisory services to SMEs, mid-sized businesses and large international groups, as well as family offices and investment funds. The firm will continue operating under its existing brand. SW chief executive Andrew Wilkes said France is a key market for many clients, and Vachon's expertise in French accounting requirements complements the firm's existing offering. The acquisition follows SW's two Irish acquisitions last year.
