SMX is seeking a driven and talented DevSecOps Engineer, with a background in enterprise container hosting platforms on-premises and in the AWS Cloud, to join our thriving Digital Solutions Group. This individual will bring a passion for technology, a strong technical skill set, and proven experience in modern containerization technologies.
The DevSecOps Engineer will be joining our Navy team at Patuxent River Naval Air Station. This is a hybrid role.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Participate in all aspects of the deployment lifecycle for various enterprise container hosting platforms on-premises and within AWS. Platforms currently consist of multiple RedHat OpenShift environments with AWS EKS, and AWS ECS with Fargate on the roadmap.
- Roles and responsibilities will consist of providing technical evaluation of requirements, technical design, implementation, documentation, deployment, and sustainment of container platforms and underlying infrastructure.
- Familiarity with DevOps/DevSecOps methodology and understanding of CI/CD pipeline processes. This role will require frequent coordination with these teams and processes.
- Support Mission Owners and provide expertise for all things containers within NAWCAD.
- Requires strong understanding of basic AWS components and services – EC2, Lambda, S3, VPC, IAM, EBS, etc... Duties will entail periodic troubleshooting to remedy issues and onboard new Mission Owners.
- Other tasks as assigned by the Data Center Management team
Required Skills:
- Clearance Level Needed: Must be able to obtain and maintain DOD Top Secret Clearance.
- Must be DoD 8570 IAT Level II certified. Some examples (CCNA Security, CySA+, GICSP, GSEC. Security+ CE. CND and SSCP)
- Experience in deploying infrastructure as code with Ansible and/or Terraform.
- Extensive knowledge of, and hands on with, DoD Enterprise on-premise networks
- Experience with public, private, and hybrid cloud capabilities
Desired Skills:
- Strong Linux background, specifically RedHat Enterprise Linux, is preferred.
- Experience in the AWS GovCloud platform
- Experience in DoD Navy networks preferred
- Basic understanding of developing / working with APIs.
- Basic understanding of source code management and version control systems.
- Ability to communicate within a structured, delivery-centric professional services team clearly and effectively
- Windows Active Directory, ACAS, DNS, and STIG remediation experience
- At least 1 years’ experience with Java, Python, R or other programming language
- Basic understanding of hybrid cloud architectures and data integration needs
- Must have good communication skills and be able to lead complex projects
- 5+ years of experience in a role that encompasses enterprise level systems administration
- A degree in a technical discipline is preferred.
- Possess cloud related certifications such as AWS Certified Solutions Architect, SysOps Administrator, Developer, etc. is a plus

$96,700—$145,100 USD
