Roadway Design Project Engineer III @ Lochmueller Group

We are looking for an experienced Civil Engineer to join our Roadway/Highway Design team in Northwest Indiana. The ideal candidate for this role will be a Professional Engineer with experience working on local agency and/or DOT roadway design projects. We provide multi-disciplined services for a variety of public agencies and private entities, including transportation design; water resources design; environmental analysis & permitting; construction engineering & inspection; traffic engineering & transportation planning; surveying; and land acquisition & appraisal. Our transportation design team offers a variety of services, but most of our work involves roadway and bridge design for various local public agencies and state DOT’s.

In this position, the candidate will:

Work on a variety of DOT and/or LPA roadway/highway design projects.
Take a lead role in project planning, design, and implementation.
Review and approve project scopes, budgets, and schedules.
Manage project tasks, budgets, schedules, and resources effectively.
Delegate work to project team members.
Perform detailed engineering analysis and design tasks.
Mentor junior engineers and provide technical guidance.
Review complete project documents, ensuring quality and compliance with relevant codes, standards, and regulations.
Assists upper level management and staff as a technical specialist or advisor.
May perform other duties associated with this role.

Qualifications for this role:

Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Civil Engineering
Licensed Professional Engineer (PE)
8+ years of experience in roadway/highway design engineering.
Proficiency with AutoCAD and/or MicroStation
Proficiency with Microsoft Office products including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
Strong communication skills both written and verbal
Ability to work well individually or as part of a team are essential
