Requirements
  • Completion of a Medical Assistant course accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs, Accrediting Bureau of Health Education Schools, or another recognized regional or national accreditation board, or equivalent.
  • Must be Washington State Medical Assistant-Certified or achieve this designation within six months of hire; failure to achieve or maintain the designation results in termination of employment.
  • Valid American Heart Association Basic Life Support for Healthcare Provider cardiopulmonary resuscitation card.
  • Equivalent education and/or experience may substitute for minimum qualifications except where legal requirements such as a license, certification, or registration apply.
Responsibilities
  • Room patients, take vital signs, and reconcile records.
  • Perform injections.
  • Prepare and clean examination rooms.
  • Submit medication prior authorizations.
  • Recognize symptoms of common medical illnesses and accurately report them to the provider.
  • Act as a liaison between patients, patients’ families, and providers.
  • Assist providers with procedures and medical examinations.
  • Perform point-of-care testing and report abnormal laboratory values.
  • Assist in transporting patients as required.
