Requirements
  • Consecutive employment in a position with comparable responsibilities within the past five years.
  • Ability to use a computer to communicate via email.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office products and related tools and technology required for the position.
  • A bachelor's degree from an accredited university.
  • At least eight years of related experience in process improvement or project management.
  • Experience with Lean methodologies in complex manufacturing processes and/or high-hazard operations.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • United States citizenship.
  • Eligibility for a Facility Access Authorization, also referred to as an Employment Authorization, by the U.S. Government's designated Security Office.
  • Ability to submit to and qualify for varying levels of background investigative requirements, up to a Top Secret or Department of Energy Q clearance.
  • Ability to work a 40-hour work week.
  • Ability to work at or in proximity to the Savannah River Site in Aiken, South Carolina.
Responsibilities
  • Manage multiple cross-functional Mission Excellence initiatives across the business unit.
  • Implement process improvement initiatives and analyze and measure the effectiveness of existing business processes.
  • Develop sustainable, repeatable, and quantifiable business process improvements.
  • Educate others on and promote Lean and Six Sigma methodologies while following applicable guidelines.
  • Establish and/or follow a data-driven, experience-oriented graded approach for solving business problems.
  • Collect and critically analyze data and information using statistical and non-statistical methods.
  • Develop and recommend business practices and procedures focused on enhanced safety, increased productivity, and reduced cost.
  • Participate in and coordinate the development and scheduling of event charters, working with departmental management to ensure appropriate participation and support.
  • Follow up on events to monitor planned improvement implementation, ensure timely action and management support, and achieve expected benefits.
  • Use measurement, analysis, and evaluation methods to identify and document process improvements.
  • Develop reports covering Continuous Improvement activities, including accomplishments, participation, projected activities, and anticipated needs.
  • Research best business practices inside and outside the organization to establish benchmark data and incorporate appropriate practices.
  • Use change-control procedures for seamless integration.
  • Assess in-process initiatives periodically to mitigate risks of failure and take corrective action when required.
  • Cultivate productive working relationships across the organization and interface with team members, senior managers, the Department of Energy, and other stakeholders.
  • Participate in and facilitate complex process-improvement discussions.
  • Prepare and deliver presentations for assigned initiatives.
  • Mentor junior colleagues and project employees in Lean tools and techniques.
  • Collaborate with process-improvement colleagues on Lean and Six Sigma methodologies, tools, and lessons learned.
  • Contribute to the creation and revision of process methodologies, protocols, communication strategies, plans, document-management processes, and templates.
  • Create and edit plans, policies, practices, information, data, and documentation for assigned initiatives.
  • Provide leadership for less experienced analysts.

  • Advanced proficiency with Excel, Access, Outlook, PowerPoint, and Word.
  • Proficiency with Adobe Acrobat, data-analytic tools, and Visio.
  • Ability to quickly learn other business tools and technologies as necessary.
