Requirements
  • Have 5+ years of industry experience building production software and/or machine learning systems.
  • Show practical experience developing agentic systems using large language models, including tool use, planning, reasoning, memory, orchestration, or multi-agent coordination, implemented in production or research/prototype formats.
  • Possess programming fundamentals in data structures, algorithms, concurrency, and system design.
  • Demonstrate fluency in Python and comfort with at least one of Java, Go, or TypeScript depending on the surface being built.
  • Have experience with agent frameworks and orchestration such as LangGraph, LangChain, or AutoGen, or an equivalent; retrieval-augmented generation pipelines; or vector databases.
  • Possess experience with large language model post-training or fine-tuning, reinforcement learning, or building rigorous agent evaluation frameworks.
Responsibilities
  • Design, build, and improve the ZoomMate agent harness, including orchestration, tool use, sandboxing, memory management, context handling, and multi-step reasoning loops for team collaboration.
  • Architect the underlying agent framework and application programming interface/software development kit surface so Zoom product teams can embed ZoomMate Agent capabilities with minimal integration cost.
  • Build and integrate tool-use and interoperability layers, including Model Context Protocol-style connectors and agent-to-agent patterns, so agents can act across Zoom's ecosystem and third-party applications.
  • Design and run evaluations and benchmarks for agent quality, including reasoning, tool-use success, latency, and cost, and use them to drive iteration.
  • Own the full lifecycle of the services built, including design documentation, code review, deployment, monitoring, on-call support, and production-grade reliability at Zoom scale.
  • Partner with product teams consuming ChatKit and turn their real integration pain points into better shared infrastructure rather than one-off fixes.
  • Integrate deeply with Zoom's engineering platforms and leverage internal tooling to accelerate delivery.
  • Integrate AI coding agents such as Claude Code and Codex into daily workflows and embed that understanding into the design of tools tailored for such agents.
Desired Qualifications
  • Have excellent communication skills and a collaborative, ownership-driven mindset.

Zoom's billings slowdown and 99% retention raise questions over AI expansion strategy

Zoom Video Communications faces questions about its AI-led expansion strategy as slowing billings growth and 99% net revenue retention signal weakening customer demand. The company recently launched ZoomMate, a $20 per user per month AI work surface connecting conversations across Zoom and third-party systems. Despite solid quarterly results and outperformance versus the broader market, underlying metrics suggest softening momentum. Zoom's investment narrative centres on whether AI and customer experience products can offset declining legacy video meetings revenue. The company's forecasts project $5.5 billion revenue and $1.4 billion earnings by 2029, requiring 4% yearly revenue growth. Some analysts predict revenue reaching $5.8 billion with earnings near $1.6 billion, though this optimistic view contrasts with current billings trends and intensifying competition in the collaboration software market.

Zoom appoints Carlos Quaderi to lead Asia Pacific growth and customer experience

Zoom has appointed Carlos Quaderi as Head of Asia Pacific, a role covering the broader APAC region and the company's customer experience business. The appointment signals Zoom's increased focus on growth in the Asia Pacific market, a region attracting significant investment in cloud, communications, and customer engagement services. The leadership change comes as Zoom faces challenges, with analysts forecasting average earnings declines of approximately 11% annually over the next three years. The company is trading around 20% below the analyst consensus target of $115, though shares have risen 6.2% over the past 30 days. Investors will be watching whether the new APAC leadership can drive regional revenue growth and enterprise customer additions to offset broader earnings pressures.
