Requirements
  • Hands-on experience architecting large-scale systems on Amazon Web Services, including Amazon Elastic Kubernetes Service, AWS Lambda, Amazon Aurora, Amazon DynamoDB, Amazon Kinesis, Amazon Managed Streaming for Apache Kafka, Amazon Simple Storage Service, Amazon API Gateway, AWS Step Functions, Amazon CloudWatch, AWS Identity and Access Management, and infrastructure-as-code frameworks such as AWS CloudFormation or Terraform.
  • Ability to architect high-throughput, low-latency distributed systems for mission-critical workloads, including cloud-native, event-driven, microservices-based architectures.
  • Experience with containerization, Kubernetes, serverless patterns, and multi-region fault-tolerant architectures.
  • Experience with AWS cost management, scaling strategies, performance tuning, resilience, and cost efficiency.
  • Experience with DevSecOps, continuous integration and continuous delivery, observability, monitoring, and secure cloud operations.
  • Ability to present architectural options, trade-offs, risk evaluations, and decisions to governance boards and senior leadership using clear, data-driven justification.
  • Ability to work cross-functionally with Product, Data Science, Security, Architecture, and Engineering teams to influence long-term platform strategy.
  • Experience with solution design, code reviews, architecture reviews, platform blueprinting, and design governance.
Responsibilities
  • Design, develop, and implement solutions to complex business problems in collaboration with stakeholders.
  • Design and develop evolving product solutions that meet business requirements and align with modern software engineering practices and automated delivery tooling.
  • Identify and implement appropriate technologies and platforms.
  • Apply workload placement strategies and cloud capabilities such as elasticity, serverless computing, and containerization.
  • Design solutions incorporating security principles such as defense in depth and blast-radius reduction while meeting resiliency expectations.
  • Balance risks and controls to deliver agreed business and technology value.
  • Adopt standardized solutions where appropriate and contribute to their evolution when needed.
  • Support operational teams with fault finding and performance issues using available tooling.
  • Assess solution design impacts on risk, capacity, and cost, including project change and ongoing operating costs.
  • Develop architecture inputs and artifacts required for architecture, privacy, security, records management, and other governance processes.
  • Serve as the senior technical authority for designing and scaling cloud-native platforms supporting enterprise-grade fraud detection and prevention solutions.
  • Architect next-generation fraud platforms using streaming, machine learning, advanced analytics, and distributed computing for real-time protection at scale.
  • Drive strategic cloud transformation across high-volume, latency-sensitive transactional systems.
  • Lead solution design, code reviews, architecture reviews, platform blueprinting, design governance, proof-of-concept work, technical evaluations, and solution-option analysis.
  • Advise stakeholders and senior management on functional and cross-functional areas of impact and alignment.
  • Manage and mitigate risks in support of control and governance objectives.
  • Create solutions by comparing complex alternatives, conducting in-depth analysis, and developing innovative approaches.
  • Adopt extensive research outcomes in problem-solving processes.
  • Build and maintain stakeholder partnerships to accomplish business objectives.
  • Guide technical direction, lead collaborative multi-year assignments, guide team members through structured assignments, and train, guide, and coach less experienced specialists.
  • Advise key stakeholders and senior management on functional and cross-functional areas of impact and alignment.
Desired Qualifications
  • Experience in fraud detection, fraud platforms, decisioning systems, or real-time risk engines.
  • Experience at product-based technology companies known for engineering depth and architectural rigor.
  • Exposure to artificial intelligence and machine learning platforms, large-language-model-driven architectures, generative artificial intelligence tooling, vector stores, embedding pipelines, and large language model pattern integration into enterprise systems.
  • Experience with streaming frameworks such as Apache Flink and Apache Spark Streaming, graph technologies, and real-time analytics.
  • Knowledge of model governance, cloud security best practices, and regulatory compliance including Payment Card Industry and General Data Protection Regulation.
  • Experience modernizing legacy systems into cloud-native, microservices-based, or event-driven architectures.
  • Experience leading engineering organizations across hybrid or global delivery models.
  • Patents, publications, open-source contributions, or conference-level technical leadership.

Housing Plus Group secures $1.2B funding package to invest in homes and communities

Housing Plus Group has secured £961 million in funding from five banking partners to invest in existing homes, deliver new properties, and strengthen communities. The social housing provider partnered with Nationwide, NatWest, Santander, AIB, and Barclays for the financing, supported by advisers Savills and Trowers & Hamlins. The package builds on £806 million of existing facilities, bringing the Group's total loan portfolio to over £1.3 billion. The refinancing simplifies the organisation's treasury structure whilst reducing financial risk and costs. Interim Chief Finance Officer Richard Nowell called it "a transformative moment" that improves financial resilience and creates capacity for customer investment. Group Chief Executive Wayne Gethings said the funding enables continued investment in homes and neighbourhoods whilst delivering new properties for future generations.

Barclays names Mike Joo and Adeel Khan investment bank co-CEOs

Barclays has appointed Mike Joo and Adeel Khan as joint chief executives of its investment banking division, effective February 2027 pending regulatory approval. Joo will join from Bank of America, where he served as co-head of global investment banking. He joined the US lender in 2006 after eight years at Credit Suisse, where he was co-head of Asia debt capital markets. He began his career at Goldman Sachs in 1995. Khan currently oversees Barclays' global markets business and has been co-head of the investment bank since 2021. He joined Barclays in 2008 and has over 25 years' experience in financial services. Previously, Khan worked at BlueBay Asset Management, running the firm's credit hedge fund. Both executives will serve on the group executive committee.

Winvia Entertainment secures $42M Barclays loan to fuel UK prize draw market consolidation

Winvia Entertainment has secured a £33 million three-year term loan from Barclays Bank, replacing its previous Eurobank facility. The AIM-listed company, which operates in UK prize draws and Romanian online gaming, also obtained a £5 million revolving acquisition facility with an uncommitted accordion option to increase it by up to £15 million. As of 30 June 2026, Winvia reported a net cash balance of approximately £31.8 million. The company is the second-largest UK prize draw operator by market share, running brands including Best of the Best, Click Competitions, and Rev Comps. The refinancing aims to support Winvia's consolidation strategy in the fragmented UK prize draw market. Chief Financial Officer Simon Hay said the arrangement establishes "a secure, long term capital structure with low leverage".
