Position Overview
TheSeniorDevOpsEngineeris a key technical role supporting a large federal agency's cloud modernization efforts. This position focuses on hands-on engineering, scaling, and enabling enterprise-gradeDevOpscapabilities across 1,000+ AWS accounts, 200+ applications, and a developer community of over 5,000 users.
As a SeniorDevOpsEngineer, you will contribute deep technicalexpertiseto core platforms including AWS, EKS (Elastic Kubernetes Service),CloudBeesCore,JFrogArtifactory, SonarQube, andSnyk. You will collaborate closely with CMS Product Owners, Security teams, and Application Developer Organizations (ADOs) to deliver reliable, secure, and mission-aligned continuous delivery platforms.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver large-scale CI/CD and container orchestration services as part of aDevOpsteam in a federal Multi - Cloud environments.
- Serve as a senior technical contributor for coreDevOpstools (CloudBees, Artifactory, SonarQube,Snyk),optimizingscalability, performance, and availability.
- Contribute to technical roadmaps for platform enhancements, security updates, and feature implementation.
- Providearchitecture guidance, capacity planning, and operational support for production-scale EKS clusters.
- Partner with security and compliance teams to ensure services align with FISMA Moderate and government-specific controls.
- Engage with ADOs and CMS stakeholders to gather requirements, incorporate feedback, and support enablement/training initiatives.
- Participate in governance meetings and customer-facing forums torepresentDevOpscapabilities.
- Drive automation, standardization, and self-service improvements to enhance developer productivity.
Required Qualifications
- 8+ years of experience inDevOps, cloud engineering, or platform operations in enterprise-scale environments.
- Strong hands-onexpertisein AWS services, including production-scale experience with EKS.
- Extensive practical experience managing andoptimizingCloudBeesCore (CI/CD),JFrogArtifactory, SonarQube, andSnykfor large user bases and application volumes.
- Proven ability to support platforms serving hundreds of applications and thousands of developers.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to collaborate in cross-functional teams and contribute to executive-level discussions.
- Experience contributing to product roadmaps, backlogs, and aligning technical work with customer needs.
- Solid understanding of security and compliance in federal cloud environments (FISMA, FedRAMP).
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior experience supporting cloud services at CMS or other large federal agencies.
- Familiarity with GitHub Actions, Terraform, and infrastructure-as-code practices.
- Knowledge of container security and software supply chain risk management best practices.
- Agile certification or experience working in a product-focused Agile framework.

- Must be eligible for Public Trust clearance
