Requirements

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, and academic systems such as learning management systems including Canvas and Blackboard.
  • Commitment to promoting inclusive excellence in education and student success initiatives.
  • Master’s degree in a relevant field from an accredited institution, such as education, counseling, or health sciences.
  • Current license, or eligibility for licensure, to practice in Colorado if possessing a clinical background relevant to the Physician Assistant program or profession.
  • Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing using English.
  • Ability to work cooperatively with colleagues and supervisory staff at all levels.
  • Ability to complete job duties using computers, telephones, calculators, and other equipment.
  • Ability to travel between campus offices and occasionally to off-campus meetings, conferences, workshops, or seminars.
  • Successful completion of a background check and drug screening.
Responsibilities
  • Implement and support the existing student success program in alignment with the Physician Assistant program’s mission and vision.
  • Identify at-risk students and collaborate on personalized action plans for improvement.
  • Track student engagement with institutional and program resources and provide input on student success strategies.
  • Participate in evaluating student success programs and initiatives.
  • Monitor and recommend revisions to program benchmarks for student success referrals.
  • Track and report student academic progression after success strategies are implemented.
  • Collaborate with faculty and course directors to facilitate, monitor, and adjust individualized student remediation plans.
  • Provide individual and group academic coaching sessions focused on performance assessment, academic success planning, and personal growth.
  • Help students develop study habits, time-management skills, and strategies for overcoming academic challenges.
  • Connect students with academic resources, support services, and faculty members.
  • Coordinate with institutional support services to facilitate faculty access to and effective use of the university documentation repository.
  • Serve as a liaison between students and program administration by advocating for student needs, addressing concerns, and facilitating feedback.
  • Collaborate with faculty, staff, and administration on student success and retention initiatives.
  • Conduct individual and group sessions on test-taking strategies, stress management, and effective communication.
  • Collaborate with faculty to integrate success strategies into the curriculum.
  • Serve on Physician Assistant program and university committees.
  • Attend Physician Assistant program faculty meetings, retreats, and accreditation-related activities.
  • Participate in the Physician Assistant program admissions process.
  • Perform other duties as assigned in support of the program and university mission.
Desired Qualifications
  • Current certification by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants.
  • At least three years of professional experience in student support roles, such as mentoring, academic advising, or success coaching, within a higher education setting.
  • Experience developing curriculum and delivering or teaching courses within a Physician Assistant program, clinically or didactically.
  • Proficiency in success coaching techniques and/or motivational interviewing strategies.
  • Ability to identify student needs and connect them with relevant support services and institutional resources.
  • Ability to optionally develop and deliver lectures and interactive small-group sessions on success strategies or other relevant areas of expertise.
