Responsibilities
  • Coordinates the activities and day-to-day functions of the Transportation and Parking Office.
  • Works directly with Transportation and Parking Services Managers to ensure the goals and objectives specified for transit and parking operations are accomplished in accordance with established priorities, time limitations, funding limitations and other specifications.
  • Runs reports via the parking database, maintaining parking lot inventory counts and cash-handling operations.
  • Supports transit operations by working collaboratively with transportation management to ensure passenger counts are collected, analyzed and accurately reported at appropriate intervals.
  • On occasion, rides daytime and evening shuttles to inspect external and internal conditions and perform quality assurance checks.
  • The University's parking program is managed using T2's Flex database. Using Flex, develops customer queries, allocates permits for online sales and coordinates logistics for e- business transactions.
  • Ensures access and revenue control equipment is functioning properly and maintained in good working order by working with the Parking Manager and Parking Monitors.
  • Assists with ensuring pay-in-lane and pay-on-foot equipment is maintained in good working order and that a preventative maintenance scheduled is adhered to.
  • Works with industry specific vendors to order parts as needed or to restore equipment to working order when there is a malfunction.
  • Assists the transportation management as needed with the coordination and management of the University's comprehensive transit programs which includes campus shuttles, campus charters and CTA. Specifically, provides day-to-day support of customer complaints, address operational issues and adherence by transit providers to posted schedules.
  • Coordinates with parking and other administrative and management level staff on project tracking and project management.
  • Coordinates the transportation and parking needs for small, medium and large-scale events on campus, such as Convocation.
  • Assists with Orientation Week preparations and represents Transportation and Parking Services at various information fairs as needed.
  • Manages special projects or functions related to Transportation and Parking Services.
  • Coordinates all TDM programs which currently include the occasional parking program, carpool program, car-share program, ridership data analysis, and dial-a-ride/injured student shuttle service coordination.
  • Assists with coordinating the day-to-day operations of Transportation and Parking Services. Monitors customer interactions and handles cash operations with limited supervision.
  • Schedules maintenance for the pay-in-lane and pay-on-foot equipment, working with vendors when there is a malfunction.
  • Coordinates the University's transit programs. Provides day-to-day assistance with addressing customer complaints, attending to operational issues and ensuring transit providers adhere to posted schedules.
  • Assists supervisors to plan and organize the parking and transportation logistics for events which occur on campus. Acts as an informal resource to those with less experience.
  • Performs other related work as needed.
Desired Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree.
  • Parking and transportation operations, TDM coordination, customer service.
  • Administrative experience.
  • One year of cash handling management experience.
  • Two years of customer service experience.
  • Excellent computer skills, including knowledge of MS Office.
  • Familiarity with parking and transit operation, police department, or administrative functions.
  • Exercise absolute discretion regarding confidential matters; maintain strict confidentiality of sensitive information.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
