About You and The Role  

Does running a large scale cross disciplinary project from early conceptual stages through introduction to manufacturing sound like the way you want to spend your time?  Do you have what it takes to lead a team to build products that are in development, own planning and scheduling, and work closely with design engineering, supply chain, and quality teams?  We are looking for a strong leader to help drive the development of our next generation aircraft.  You should be comfortable working with uncertainty, and making decisions.  Drive for excellence and agility for your team, and be comfortable tracking down the answers to questions that may not have been asked yet.  Zipline is searching for the right leader to support this effort- are you up to the challenge?

What You’ll Do  

• Hire, train, and onboard new team members.
• Mentor your team, give them guidance, and ensure a safety focused culture is top priority.
• Plan, schedule and lead aircraft and ground system prototyping, engineering validation, and design validation campaigns. 
• Ensure Design for Assembly and Manufacture (DFAM), Process Failure Mode Effects Analysis (PFMEA), and manufacturing documentation is completed for all subassemblies and assemblies for Platform 1  aircraft and ground systems.
• Work with the Design Engineering teams to ensure builds are coordinated with design iterations and that DFAM and PFMEA feedback is provided throughout product development.
• Work with the Supplier Quality team to ensure vendor selection incorporates lessons learned from prototype and validation builds.
•  Work closely with Manufacturing Engineering to ensure PFMEAs, time studies, and DFAM are provided. 
• Lead weekly meetings with your team to ensure all members are aligned on team goals.

What You’ll Bring 

• BA/BS, MS in Mechanical, Electrical, Manufacturing Engineering, or related field.
• 3- 5 years working in product development, ideally with multiple delivered products in a medium to high volume industry.
• Have a firm understanding of how complex production lines operate including key items such as industrial workings between facilities/departments, line balance, OEE, error proofing.
• Have a good understanding of production line layout, flow and modeling. Should understand the following: Job shops, batch and flow production; takt, touch and cycle time; bottleneck identification and methods for resolving; workstation organization and setup / lean manufacturing principles; statistical process control; designing single flow lines to build multiple products.
• You are a skilled builder with the expertise to understand and teach the team safe tool practices.
• You can communicate effectively (verbally and in writing) and build strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
• Strong analytical and organizational skills.
• Demonstrated communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to write, speak, and present effectively and persuasively at all levels.
• Strong analytical and organizational skills; ability to achieve success in situations with high degrees of uncertainty and complexity
• Ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously, with a strong drive to achieve results.
• Must be eligible to work in the US.
