About the role
Techno is currently seeking an experienced and detail-focused Electrical Inspector to join our team on a major public infrastructure project in the Bronx. This initiative is part of a long-term effort to modernize electrical and energy systems that directly support New York City’s environmental and sustainability goals.
In this role, you will be instrumental in overseeing the installation and inspection of power distribution systems, backup energy sources, and facility-wide upgrades—ensuring compliance with all applicable codes, safety standards, and contract documents. You'll work alongside engineers, construction managers, and contractors to help deliver a complex and high-impact project that will serve New Yorkers for decades to come.
What you'll do
- Inspect electrical installations including conduit, wiring, switchgear, panels, lighting, and energy systems to ensure they meet design specs and code requirements.
- Review drawings, submittals, and specifications to verify compliance with NEC, NYC Electrical Code, and relevant agency standards.
- Observe and verify system testing for continuity, grounding, insulation resistance, and operational readiness.
- Collaborate closely with engineers, general contractors, and the owner’s representatives to proactively address any field issues or deviations.
- Maintain detailed inspection logs, daily reports, and punch lists; escalate non-conforming work as needed.
- Provide oversight on contractor work to confirm adherence to quality standards, timelines, and safety requirements.
- Participate in field meetings and walkthroughs to track progress and coordinate between trades.
- Assist with review of electrical shop drawings and product data to ensure accurate execution in the field.
- Enforce and promote strict adherence to site safety protocols in accordance with OSHA and local regulations.
- Support inspection activities across multiple work zones as needed.
Qualifications
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in electrical inspection for building or infrastructure construction projects.
- Strong background in power distribution, emergency systems, fire alarms, and lighting installations.
- Experience working on environmentally focused or energy-efficient facility upgrades is highly desirable.
- Experience with electrical systems in pump stations, treatment plants, or public infrastructure projects is a plus.
- Experience with the Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) or other NYC agency standards and procedures is a plus.
- Ability to read and interpret electrical plans, riser diagrams, and shop drawings with precision.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with a focus on documentation and team coordination.
- Proven commitment to workplace safety and quality control.
