Requirements
  • Three to five years of similar or related experience in a credit union or banking environment.
  • A high school education or GED.
  • Well-developed interpersonal skills for communicating with members.
  • Courtesy, tact, and diplomacy for frequent personal contact with internal and external parties to give or obtain information, build relationships, or solicit cooperation.
  • Intermediate mathematical skills involving decimals, percentages, and fractions.
  • Pennsylvania residency.
  • Eligibility and continuing education requirements necessary to obtain and maintain licenses required to sell insurance and/or underwrite loans.
  • Working knowledge of credit union policies, procedures, and guidelines, including security, the Bank Secrecy Act, identity theft and red flags, cash over/short guidelines, check cashing and holds, and confidentiality.
  • Understanding of lending regulations and compliance with policies and regulations including the Bank Secrecy Act, Truth in Lending, Fair Lending, RESPA, HMDA, FCRA, and the SAFE Act.
Responsibilities
  • Serve as a liaison between the Credit Union and its members within a branch retail sales environment.
  • Greet members and perform routine account transactions.
  • Provide account information and open new accounts.
  • Perform lending services and handle members’ needs professionally.
  • Perform routine member transactions, including deposits, loan and VISA payments, transfers, and ordering members’ checks.
  • Interview, examine, and process loan applications.
  • Open new accounts and service existing accounts while providing necessary account information.
  • Explain services to members and potential members to generate additional business and promote positive public relations.
  • Resolve account-related concerns with members.
  • Maintain office files as necessary.
  • Receive and announce visitors and guests to the credit union.
  • Fulfill members’ stated and unstated financial needs by recommending appropriate deposit, loan, and convenience services.
  • Determine member needs, promote services, and cross-sell credit union offerings based on those needs.
  • Operate an online computer terminal to access member account information.
  • Verify and balance cash drawers and assist with verifying cash shipments and orders.
  • Service the coin machine and service and balance the ATM as needed.
  • Provide general and specific service-related information in person and by telephone.
  • Perform loan-service functions, including providing service information, interviewing applicants, determining collateral needs and payment plans, reviewing, processing, and closing loan applications.
  • Prepare loan documents, schedule appointments, disburse funds, and mail notices in accordance with federal and credit union laws, regulations, and policies.
  • Answer questions and provide information on first and second mortgages.
  • Assist members with the mortgage application process, process mortgage applications, and follow through to closing.
  • Assist members in balancing accounts and research deposit, withdrawal, and loan payment discrepancies.
  • Provide account status information, including current balances and loan payoffs.
  • Conduct orientations explaining services and programs to new credit union members.
  • Establish and change direct deposits and payroll deductions.
  • Update account information at members’ requests, including name, address, and joint-account ownership changes.
  • Perform back-office data entry.
  • Assist with loan documentation and collection duties as needed.
  • Participate in directed training and professional development activities, including conferences, seminars, and workshops.
  • Maintain a current understanding of lending regulations and comply with applicable policies and regulations.
