What believers are saying

  • July 2026 interim results kept the dividend rising 9.3% to 2.0p.
  • Centrica cut 1,300 jobs, improving digital service efficiency and lowering customer operations costs.
  • New 2026 hospital contracts and Gressingham's 3.27MW solar project expand decarbonisation demand.

What critics are saying

  • Centrica's H1 2026 adjusted EBITDA fell 18%, and revenue dropped 12%.
  • Management flagged 2027 Centrica Energy EBITDA below consensus after Spirit Energy disposals and outages.
  • If British Gas margins normalize and Energy 2027 disappoints, Centrica's 2030 targets lose credibility.

What makes Centrica unique

  • Centrica Business Solutions bundles CHP, solar, batteries, heat pumps, and financing under one contract.
  • It pairs onsite decarbonisation with PowerRadar optimization and ongoing maintenance for hospitals and factories.
  • The 65MW Perthshire battery and Knapton hub prove utility-scale buildout beyond consulting.
