Responsibilities
  • Responsible for issuing consolidation of provisional drawing list of the project or of his/her work package, integrating submission dates
  • Manage global time schedule of concerned engineering activities, check coherency of links between engineering activities and other project functions activities (procurement, construction, commissioning) and organize follow up of critical activities of the project or of his/her discipline.
  • Plan and manage delivery time of technical interfaces with his/her work package , put in place   exchange interface sheets with partners, customer and third-party contractors
  • Ensure on-time delivery of design to stakeholders with suitable quality including Partner documents
  • anticipate and mitigate delivery issues of concerned activities
  • Manage time schedule for his/her work package engineering activities in close collaboration with the planner
  • He/she is responsible of relevant co-engineering sessions with other disciplines, main partners or key suppliers if & when appropriate and of work package design reviews
  • For large & complex project support PED and Project I&I manager in the engineering change management
  • Lead & coordinate design teams
  • Follow the engineering budget and identify potential savings and highlight to Project manager all motivated situation requiring extra budget
  • Manage design workload plan and request resource arbitration
  • Participate and contribute to the project multidisciplinary design reviews according to the EMH procedures and per the project strategy
  • Organize and manage disciplinary design reviews
  • Participate to project strategy elaboration with PM
  • Manage scope or design changes & prepare related claims and VO to be approved by PED or PM
  • Inform of design issues throughout execution
  • Updates risk assessment related to design & applies mitigation plan when required
  • Participate to project risk cession
  • Manage design issues up to resolution
  • Analyse customer technical requirements, prepare and or consolidate clause by clause analysis and ensure compliance to Customer requirements through Technical queries, identify, track, manage potential exception…
  • Represents customer interests in the design decisions at PM request

  • Coordinate with partners regarding customer technical comments on their scope

  • Manage evolution of customer requirements & associated impacts
  • Ensures conformance of material with specification & documentation
  • Tracks & manage identified or potential deviations
  • Prepare or review technical specifications and supplier’s documents to enable procurement of materials and plant detailed design
  • Check effectiveness of design against delivery of contract requirements within project budget and look for global cost optimization in all design phase and mainly during basic design
  • Get or give support to ensure compliance to technical state of the art and applicable standards & regulations
  • Approve internal, external own discipline documents before transmittal
  • Prepare engineering subcontracting files (Scope, Deliverables, Inputs, Schedule) Support to design subcontract preparation
  • Provide technical assistance upon request
  • Support OMM execution
  • Deploy Engineering tools associated to his/her work package (CAD, PDM/DMS,) as per strategy
  • Integrate EHS requirements based on project Strategy, and deploy HAZID (Hazard identification) sessions at different project phases
  • Implement KPIs defined on engineering process and provide support to elaborate project reporting
  • Define with Engineering management or PED the Project Design review plan
  • Conduct design reviews following Engineering management instruction
  • Apply Design subcontracting process
  • In line with general time schedule, participate to project equipment and materials procurement cycle
  • Support Sourcing and Procurement in the definition of the Supplier’s list according to the project strategy
  • Organize and follow transmission of required Supply Requests on time ; coordinate any required updates
  • Coordinate with relevant people the review of technical offers from suppliers
  • Approve the technical evaluation of offers from suppliers
  • Support Procurement during commercial negotiation for POs issuance and during post order stage
  • Manage technical interface with sub suppliers & partners, prepare input data, check consistency
  • Ensure the technical follow up (review, comment, approval) of the supplier’s documentations
  • Convene technical coordination meetings with partners or key suppliers if & when appropriate
  • Support Procurement in the equipment ITP review and approval
  • Support Procurement in the review of FAT procedure and participate to FAT, as per project FAT plan. and request resources function of project strategy
  • Involve Construction Team on Design review to Perform constructability analysis
  • Support site organization during site preparation and throughout construction and commissioning stage, when required
  • Organize input data acquisition for O&MM & As built
  • Organize Eng project teams ROE according to unit process
  • Provide data & inputs for project RoE
  • Site/Design return of experience & perform Design Validation Review
  • Support functional knowledge capitalization for dedicated practice areas
  • Comply with Quality Procedures, work instructions and Processes defined at Unit, project level, and in EMH
  • Report or resolve any non-conformances and process in a timely manner
  • Implement design freeze and EHS in design
  • Demonstrate EHS leadership and ensure Zero Deviation Plan is implemented within the team
  • Sets the example by demonstrating the proper acts and actively observes work conditions and behaviors, giving constructive feedback and celebrating EHS effective prevention.
  • Actively participates in defining corrective actions when work is unsafe or when an uncontrolled risk is observed.
  • Routinely observes routines and behaviors of others and provides immediate feedback regarding unsafe behavior and celebrates achievements or safe behaviors
  • Design activities schedule updated with achievable task duration
  • Minimum KPI’s linked to medium size project deployed
  • Design reviews & Gate reviews plan formalized and followed
  • ROR integrates design part and Mitigation plan formalized and actions status identified (not started, ongoing, closed.)

GE Vernova secures $6M state funding for $96M energy research centre in Niskayuna

GE Vernova has secured an additional $6 million in state funding for its $96 million Advanced Research Center on Balltown Road in Niskayuna, New York. The grant, awarded through the FAST NY programme, will fund water supply, road and stormwater management upgrades at the campus, offsetting roughly half of the $12 million in required infrastructure improvements. The company previously received $9.6 million in state tax credits linked to plans for creating 75 new jobs at the research centre, along with low-cost hydropower allocation. The site, separate from GE Vernova's existing River Road labs, will house energy technology research including a direct air capture carbon system currently under testing. GE Vernova earned nearly $5 billion in 2025 on $38 billion in revenue, with a market value of $242 billion.

ThinkLabs raises $28M USD Series A to help power grids handle AI data centre demand

ThinkLabs has raised $28 million USD ($39 million CAD) in a Series A round led by Energy Impact Partners to help power grids manage surging demand from AI data centres. Nvidia's venture fund NVentures and Edison International participated, alongside returning investors including GE Vernova. The Canadian-led, New York-based startup provides physics-informed AI software that creates digital twins of power grids, simulating scenarios to help operators maintain reliability and reduce outages. The platform reduces what would typically be a six-month, quarter-million-dollar study to under a day's analysis. Founded by former Toronto Hydro smart-grid department head Josh Wong, ThinkLabs spun out of GE Vernova in early 2024 with $6.8 million CAD in seed funding. The company will use the new capital to mature its product and expand features whilst focusing on the North American market.

Trump and Japan unveil up to $40B US nuclear reactor plan

President Donald Trump and Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi have unveiled a US-Japan energy investment plan potentially worth $40 billion, centring on small modular nuclear reactors. GE Vernova and Hitachi will develop BWRX-300 reactors in Tennessee and Alabama, whilst Japan will invest up to $33 billion in natural gas plants in Pennsylvania and Texas. The initiative forms part of a broader $550 billion bilateral investment fund agreed under a recent trade pact. It aims to address rising electricity demand from data centres and artificial intelligence infrastructure. However, most SMR designs await regulatory approval and none have been deployed on US grids. The agreement also covers critical minerals and industrial supply chains, with Japanese firms contributing components and participating in rare-earth projects across Indiana, Arizona and North Carolina.
