Act as the key internal point-of-contact for an assigned portfolio of brands and subject matter expert on privacy law, including providing practical, timely, strategic, and high-quality legal advice on data privacy matters. Lead contractual negotiations with vendors and other partners on data protection terms. Lead the privacy review of new features and services to strategically advise on emerging products and technologies while anticipating and successfully navigating privacy considerations. Lead in the development of privacy policies and procedures as part of the ongoing evolution of Match’s privacy strategy. Use strong communication skills (written and verbal) to lead internal training on legal and regulatory requirements relating to privacy, as well as best practices. Ensure timely reporting to the Data Protection Officer on new projects related to the processing of personal data. Identify and advise on key
legal issues requiring attention from the privacy team and anticipate potential privacy legal issues within the organization. Participate in the development of Match’s privacy strategy to meet changing global privacy requirements. Review new privacy laws to ensure compliance on current and future projects. Provide legal counsel on investigations involving reports of inappropriate or unauthorized access, loss or disclosure of personal data, including advising on potential liability, identifying legal obligations, and supporting incident response efforts. Telecommuting may be permitted. When not telecommuting, must report to 8800 Sunset Blvd., West Hollywood, CA 90069. Salary: $194,438 - $210,000 per year.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: J.D., L.L.M., or U.S. equivalent in law, plus 5 years of professional experience as attorney, counsel, or any occupation/position/job title involving practice of law. Must be admitted to practice law in one of the following US jurisdictions: California, New York or Texas.
Must also have experience in the following: 5 years of professional experience as a practicing attorney (in-house or at a law firm) providing legal counseling on data privacy matters; 5 years of professional experience working with relevant privacy statutes, regulations and guidance, including those in the U.S., Europe, and Canada; 3 years of professional experience assessing legal risks relating to data protection and privacy, and identifying and advising on practical, compliant ways to mitigate those risks; 2 years of professional experience responding to regulatory complaints and investigations; 2 years of professional experience with new and emerging technologies, including AI/ML and biometrics; 2 years of professional experience with data incident response.
