Who we’re looking for:
As a Business Analyst in the Finance org, you will be a partner to Rover’s accounting and tax teams. You will dig deep into huge sets of data, then emerge with clear business narratives and recommendations. You will work closely with business stakeholders to provide insights that drive action in the realms of accounting, tax, and compliance.
You will proactively support the quantitative needs of accounting by working cross-functionally with engineering to ensure a smooth and efficient month-end close rhythm. You are excited to take deep dives. You are able to validate hypotheses by extracting and analyzing all the relevant data, then summarize it in a crisp manner tailored to the audience. You will maintain current reporting on various areas of the business, and are also encouraged to identify opportunities to improve reporting to better meet the teams’ needs. When there are product feature experiments that impact Finance, you will partner with stakeholders, both technical and non-technical, to find the right solution.
Your Responsibilities:
- Become a subject matter expert on database queries related to all payments and finance tables, tax database, and integrated third-party vendor data
- Partner with engineering to maintain our internal revenue recognition engine by building and refining automated queries generated from our payments solution, and lead data investigations to reconcile accounting variances.
- Provide leverage for the accounting and tax teams through insights, narratives and increased automation/simplification. Be a thought partner for business owners, getting to the question behind the questions and distilling the underlying need to analyze data.
Your Qualifications:
- 3+ years business experience in Analytics.
- Familiarity, but not mastery, of accounting principles (revenue principles, debits/credits on balance sheets, tax principles, etc.)
- Experience working with accounting / analytics teams to assist with data queries, metrics reporting, and surfacing narratives to share with broader audiences.
- Intermediate SQL and data visualization tool experience (e.g. Periscope, Mode, Looker, Tableau, etc.)
- Experience working with data infrastructure / engineering teams to assist with recommendations for organizing data into performant tables.
Nice to Have:
- Experience in a two-sided marketplace.
- Familiarity with Python, R, or a similar computational language.

Compensation:
- In the greater Seattle area the first year salary range is $83,931- $108,167. Additionally Rover offers equity (RSU’s) and benefits to all employees.
- The cash compensation offered for this role will be dependent on the candidate’s experience, qualifications, skills and abilities as demonstrated in the interview and hiring process.
