Requirements
  • Master’s degree in nursing.
  • Active unencumbered registered nurse license.
  • Minimum of 5 years of clinical and classroom experience in nursing education.
  • Experience working with student populations and understanding of the challenges faced by nursing students.
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficiency in simulation pedagogy, clinical skills assessment, and debriefing techniques.
  • Familiarity with simulation technologies and virtual simulation platforms.
  • Ability to motivate and inspire students.
  • Proficiency in using learning management platforms.
  • Organizational skills.
Responsibilities
  • Provide one-on-one and group coaching sessions to nursing students to help students develop effective study habits, time management, and clinical reasoning.
  • Monitor academic progress and intervene early with at-risk students.
  • Create and monitor peer nursing tutor program.
  • Design and implement remediation plans for students who do not meet clinical or simulation performance benchmarks.
  • Utilize a variety of simulation modalities, including high-fidelity simulation (HFS) using advanced manikins to replicate complex clinical scenarios; low-fidelity simulation for task-specific skill development (e.g., IV insertion, catheterization); standardized patient encounters to assess communication, assessment, and clinical decision-making; virtual simulation platforms to reinforce clinical judgment and critical thinking in a flexible, tech-enabled environment.
  • Facilitate structured debriefing sessions using evidence-based models (e.g., PEARLS, Debriefing for Meaningful Learning) to help students reflect on performance and integrate feedback.
  • Maintain accurate records of student interactions, remediation outcomes, and academic progress.
  • Use data to evaluate the effectiveness of coaching and simulation-based remediation strategies and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Collaborate with course and simulation faculty to align remediation with course objectives and clinical competencies.
  • Connect students with academic, financial, mental health, and career resources.
  • Serve as a liaison between students and faculty to resolve concerns and advocate for student needs.
  • Analyze student data to identify trends and recommend improvements.
  • Contribute to the design and implementation of student success initiatives, workshops, and events.
  • Available as needed to attend early morning, evening or weekend events based on seasonal activities. Due to the nature of the role, this position is not remote/hybrid.
Desired Qualifications
  • Doctoral degree preferred.
