Requirements
  • A degree in Computer Science or a comparable technical field is required.
  • A strong desire to learn tool development within non-photorealistic rendering pipelines is required.
  • Proficiency in Python, Open Shading Language, and C++ is required.
  • Familiarity with Nuke's Python application programming interfaces, Nuke Development Kit, BlinkScript, gizmo creation, and standard compositing workflows is required.
  • Basic knowledge of building libraries, custom plugins, and interface tools is required.

  • Basic knowledge of lighting, compositing, and general studio pipeline architecture is required.

Responsibilities
  • Collaborate with the Look of Picture team to develop tools for shading, rendering, and compositing teams to realize unique aesthetic visions.
  • Provide technical guidance to artists using the developed toolsets.
  • Establish comprehensive documentation and visual references showcasing the capabilities of various utilities.
  • Optimize existing frameworks to refine production pipelines and improve productivity.
  • Maintain accountability to Look of Picture and DFX leadership.
  • Manage the entire lifecycle of a tool, from initial creation to shot integration.
  • Develop innovative tools for upcoming projects and support non-photorealistic rendering techniques.
Desired Qualifications
  • A background in look development, lighting, rendering, or shader construction is considered a significant asset.
  • Knowledge of traditional artistic mediums such as watercolor, gouache, or charcoal is desired.
  • A genuine passion for photography, painting, or classical design is desired.
