Requirements
  • Extensive experience managing Application Development, Infrastructure, Information Security and Production Support functions.
  • Extensive hands-on, leadership experience in Agile methodologies (such as Extreme Programming and Scrum) within a software development function.
  • Experience applying automated methods to Application Development and IT functions (e.g., server/desktop builds, application deployments, nightly cycle automation, etc.).
  • Experience working in several programming languages.
  • Experience working in Oracle or other SQL-based database environments.
  • Experience working in controlled development, testing and production environments.
  • Hands-on knowledge of source code control concepts and systems, integrated development environments (IDEs) and multiple application architectures (such as Web, distributed messaging systems and client-server).
  • Experience in the Microsoft Windows and Unix operating systems platforms (OpenVMS a plus).
  • Basic understanding of finance, fixed income securities and derivatives.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to work as part of a team.
  • Solid work ethic, self-driven with the ability to work with minimal supervision.
  • Candidate must be willing to travel as needed.

Responsibilities
  • Set the strategic direction for the approach and architecture, and for the overall delivery of a consistent, controlled, documented and streamlined development support platform.
  • Serve as the primary liaison with audit, risk and regulatory compliance groups to ensure the development processes meet corporate policies and standards.
  • Design, implement and manage a platform of processes and tools to support the Software Development Life Cycle.
  • Develop a process to support frequent, rapid, and streamlined releases into several Quality Assurance and User Acceptance Testing environments.
  • Administer source code control systems and advise developers on the proper use of build and release system automation.
  • Advise development teams on working within corporate guidelines and Federal regulatory mandates; assist with SDLC training materials and conduct training sessions with new developers to communicate policy information and the associated release/change procedures.
  • Lead process improvement projects as application development functions are migrated to a new SDLC and Release Management process.
  • Work to consolidate multiple source code control systems and disparate development processes.
  • Periodically provide project status and progress reports to AMG, ERM, Treasury and Corporate Management groups.
  • Produce reports and statistics that allow for the analysis of change and release processes to be improved and become more efficient.
  • Collect ongoing metrics and periodically report SDLC and Release Management Key Performance Indicators to Corporate oversight groups.
  • Define the release and change processes for 200+ applications running within multiple Windows and Unix environments.
  • Work with development groups to define an approach for automating build, packaging, and installation processes.
  • Define and communicate the process for emergency release procedures and application roll-backs.
  • Manage a Release Management function to coordinate controlled software deployments to multiple Quality Assurance, User Acceptance Testing, and Production environments. Manage release and change processes to be compliant with Agile-based policies and standards.
  • Design, implement and manage a platform of processes and tools to support Batch Processing.
  • Design and implement a flexible, robust, scalable and centralized platform to support all batch processing across the AMG, ERM and Treasury systems.
  • Work with the development groups to implement dependency-driven, re-entrant, centrally monitored and fault-tolerant jobs on this platform.
  • Manage a Batch Processing function to administer the batch processing platform and to help operate upon and monitor the platform when necessary.
  • Coordinate with audit, risk and regulatory compliance groups.
  • Collaborate with Corporate groups to understand Policy and Standard requirements.
  • Work with development teams to implement requirements using Agile-based methods.
  • Maintain process and procedure documentation which describes the implementation for AMG/ERM/Treasury O&S.
  • A perspective for automation is required.
