Adobe stock remains down nearly 30% this year amid AI disruption concerns, despite continued solid performance. The company reported third-quarter revenue of $6.76 billion, up 13% year over year and exceeding its prior forecast. Adjusted earnings per share rose 15% to $6.13. Adobe is pursuing a freemium strategy to drive growth, offering free tools like Adobe Express and limited AI credits to convert casual users into subscribers. Monthly active freemium users grew 70% year over year, surpassing 100 million in the quarter. The company raised its full-year guidance, forecasting revenue between $26.576 billion and $26.626 billion, with adjusted earnings per share of $24.45 to $24.50. For the fiscal fourth quarter, Adobe expects revenue between $6.8 billion and $6.85 billion.
Adobe shares rose 1.4% on Friday, despite being down 27% over the past year. Jim Cramer suggested potential cuts in Adobe seem "false" and wondered if a squeeze could develop, noting the company's large market cap enables acquisitions. Adobe reported Q3 revenue of $6.76 billion and earnings per share of $6.13, slightly beating analyst estimates. The company's AI annual recurring revenue jumped 150% to $650 million, with overall ARR growing 11% to $27.50 billion. Adobe also surpassed one billion monthly active users for the first time. However, net new ARR dropped 36-37% annually, and Q4 revenue guidance of $6.80-6.85 billion missed estimates. Morgan Stanley maintained an Underweight rating, whilst JPMorgan cut its price target from $340 to $315. Hedge fund ownership declined from 86 to 81 firms quarter-over-quarter.
Adobe and CrowdStrike represent contrasting investment profiles in software: established stability versus high-growth disruption. Both rely on subscription models but serve different markets — Adobe dominates creative and productivity software, whilst CrowdStrike leads in cloud-native cybersecurity. Adobe reported revenue of $23.8 billion for the fiscal year ended 28 November 2025, up 10.5% year-over-year, with net income of $7.1 billion and a 30% net margin. Free cash flow reached $9.9 billion. The company recently acquired Topaz Labs to enhance AI capabilities. CrowdStrike posted revenue of $4.8 billion for the fiscal year ended 31 January 2026, growing 21.7% year-over-year. However, it reported a net loss of $162.5 million, reflecting investments in infrastructure and personnel to scale its security platform. The choice depends on risk appetite: Adobe offers profitability and cash generation, whilst CrowdStrike provides faster growth at the expense of current profitability.
Adobe reported record third-quarter revenue of $6.76 billion, representing 13% year-over-year growth. The company achieved a major milestone of one billion monthly active users across its creativity and productivity solutions. Adobe's AI-first annual recurring revenue grew more than 150% year over year. Total annualised recurring revenue exiting the quarter reached $27.50 billion. Diluted earnings per share was $4.62 on a GAAP basis and $6.13 on a non-GAAP basis. The company generated record cash flows from operations of $2.52 billion. Adobe repurchased approximately 9.5 million shares during the quarter. The company raised its full-year revenue and earnings per share targets, citing expanding user base through freemium strategy and deeper engagement with agentic experiences.
Adobe lost access to advertise inside ChatGPT just hours before releasing its fiscal third-quarter results. OpenAI quietly restricted ads for standalone image and audio generation products that compete with its own offerings, according to Adobe's senior director for Americas media Doug Wyatt. Adobe had used ChatGPT to promote Acrobat Studio and its Firefly image generator. The platform also stopped returning external links for queries about photo editors and image generators, cutting off organic discovery for third-party developers. Video generation campaigns remain permitted. The timing coincides with OpenAI's launch of ChatGPT Images 2.5 and Live voice capabilities. OpenAI has reported a $1 billion annualised advertising run rate against a target of $2.4 billion. Adobe faces leadership changes, with Anil Chakravarthy becoming chief executive on 1 December.
