Responsibilities
  • Develop, plan, prepare, implement, monitor, and evaluate a competency-based Career and Technical Education program that prepares students for entry-level employment or post-secondary education.
  • Demonstrate subject-matter knowledge, maintain high expectations for student achievement, and use effective teaching practices.
  • Use innovative technology in the classroom to enhance Career and Technical Education curriculum standards and assessments.
  • Set and maintain classroom behavior standards and uphold district-wide discipline policies.
  • Create a positive, nurturing, developmentally appropriate, and conducive learning environment.
  • Communicate with parents through conferences and other means regarding student progress and the school program.
  • Plan a program of study aligned with Arizona State standards and individual student needs, interests, and abilities.
  • Use multiple student data elements to assess progress, modify instruction, and improve student learning.
  • Plan, organize, and teach a competency-based Career and Technical Education course.
  • Develop, implement, maintain, manage, and advise a Career and Technical Student Organization, incorporating its leadership activities into the curriculum.
  • Develop and maintain Career and Technical Education and Career and Technical Student Organization program budgets in accordance with district and building guidelines.
  • Maintain accurate and complete program records required by law, district policy, and administration.
  • Develop lesson plans and organize class time for preparation, instruction, shop or lab work, and cleanup activities.
  • Prepare assigned classes and provide written evidence of preparation when requested by the supervisor.
  • Prepare students for success on state assessments and Career and Technical Education program credentials.
  • Develop community and industry partnerships to provide students with work-based learning.
  • Establish and maintain a local program advisory council.
  • Take necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities.
  • Manage the classroom and laboratory effectively.
  • Order supplies, instructional materials, and equipment necessary for the program curriculum.
  • Maintain and improve professional competence.
  • Attend and participate in professional learning communities, Career and Technical Education staff meetings, and required staff committees.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
