Requirements
  • BA/BS Degree, preferably in Finance or Accounting.
  • Formal credit training preferred.
  • 7-10+ years of related experience preferred.
  • Good working knowledge of credit and underwriting principles and procedures as well as business concepts.
  • Complete knowledge and understanding of the LEAF’s credit policies and procedures.
  • Excellent underwriting analysis and investment decision-making skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to make presentations to credit committee.
  • Strong organization and attention to detail with sense of urgency.
  • Excellent ability to work independently but also as a team.
Responsibilities
  • Prepare detailed credit write-ups for presentation to LEAF Credit Committee and M&T Bank Deputy Credit Officer.
  • Review complex borrower’s financial statements and/or tax returns.
  • Recommend risk ratings based on the utilization of the bank’s PD/LGD scorecard.
  • Gather information from various sources including vendors and assess vendor quality.
  • Independently write detailed credit memos and participate in credit discussions with senior management.
  • Assess large ticket opportunities to determine if sufficient information has been provided and compile list of questions/additional information needed.
  • Facilitate customer calls to discuss financing needs and ensure understanding of Obligor’s financial performance and business operations.
  • Work with LEAF Sales Team to structure loans/leases to meet client expectations while managing LEAF’s risk exposure.
  • Assist in the management of the department in the Manager’s absence.
Desired Qualifications
  • Leasing industry experience, a plus.
  • Good working knowledge of other departments such as Sales, Funding and Collections, and the interaction with the Credit Department.
