FREYR Battery makes battery cells for electric vehicles (EVs) and energy storage systems (ESS) using a Nordic supply chain and large-scale production in Mo i Rana, Northern Norway. The cells store chemical energy for repeated charge-discharge cycles and FREYR uses automated cathode casting to improve production efficiency and consistency, targeting longer cycle life, higher depth of discharge, better round-trip efficiency, and lower levelized cost of storage. Differentiators include a Nordic renewable-energy cluster and full regional supply chain that reduce costs, combined with scale and automation, plus plans to expand into the United States to broaden capacity and market reach. The goal is to provide high-quality, cost-effective battery cells for EVs and ESS while expanding production capacity and geographic reach with a focus on sustainability and profitability.
