Requirements
  • A high school diploma or equivalent is required.
  • Current Level II qualifications or certifications are required for applicable nondestructive testing methods, including radiographic testing, magnetic particle testing, liquid penetrant testing, and ultrasonic thickness testing, in accordance with the employer's written practice and applicable industry requirements.
  • Hands-on experience with computed radiography and digital radiography equipment and techniques is required.
  • Previous industrial nondestructive testing experience is required, preferably in oil and gas, petrochemical, refining, pipeline, fabrication, power generation, or other heavy industrial environments.
  • Candidates must meet applicable training, experience, and examination requirements for assigned nondestructive testing methods.
  • Strong knowledge of radiographic techniques, image quality requirements, exposure setup, and image interpretation is required.
  • Knowledge of applicable codes and standards such as ASME, API, AWS, and ASTM is required, depending on project and client requirements.
  • Ability to read and interpret procedures, drawings, specifications, and technical documentation is required.
  • Ability to independently set up equipment, perform examinations, interpret results, and complete required documentation within Level II responsibilities is required.
  • Strong understanding of nondestructive testing safety requirements and radiation safety practices is required.
  • Ability to accurately document inspection results and complete reports in a timely manner is required.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively with team members and client representatives are required.
  • A valid driver's license is required.
  • Candidates must meet company, client, and site-specific requirements, including applicable background, drug and alcohol, and safety requirements.
  • Candidates must be willing to work days, nights, weekends, overtime, and extended schedules as project needs require.
  • Candidates must be willing and able to travel to project and client locations as required.
  • Candidates must be able to work in industrial, construction, fabrication, and field environments, including outdoors in varying weather conditions.
  • Candidates must be able to stand, walk, bend, kneel, climb stairs and ladders, and access elevated work areas as required.
  • Candidates must be able to work in confined spaces and at heights when required and properly trained.
  • Candidates must be able to lift and carry nondestructive testing equipment and materials associated with assigned work.
  • Candidates must be able to wear required personal protective equipment and respiratory protection when applicable.
  • Candidates must be able to safely perform radiographic work and meet all applicable radiation safety requirements.
Responsibilities
  • Perform Level II nondestructive testing inspections using radiographic testing, computed radiography, digital radiography, magnetic particle testing, liquid penetrant testing, and ultrasonic thickness testing methods in accordance with approved procedures and applicable codes and standards.
  • Set up and calibrate nondestructive testing equipment and verify that equipment is functioning properly before use.
  • Perform industrial radiography using approved techniques and exposure parameters.
  • Perform computed radiography and digital radiography examinations, including image acquisition and evaluation in accordance with applicable procedures and acceptance criteria.
  • Process, review, interpret, and evaluate radiographic images for quality and relevant indications.
  • Perform magnetic particle and liquid penetrant examinations and evaluate indications based on applicable acceptance criteria.
  • Perform ultrasonic thickness testing to determine material thickness and identify areas of potential corrosion or material loss.
  • Interpret applicable codes, standards, procedures, specifications, drawings, and client requirements.
  • Evaluate inspection results and accurately document findings.
  • Prepare clear and complete nondestructive testing inspection reports and maintain required inspection documentation.
  • Identify and communicate reportable indications and nonconforming conditions to appropriate personnel.
  • Maintain traceability of inspection results, equipment, and documentation.
  • Establish and maintain required radiation boundaries and controlled areas during radiographic operations.
  • Follow applicable radiation safety requirements and company and client procedures.
  • Handle, operate, transport, and secure radiographic equipment and radioactive materials as applicable.
  • Perform required equipment checks and maintain inspection equipment in good working condition.
  • Work with other technicians, supervisors, quality personnel, operations personnel, and client representatives.
  • Assist with training and provide guidance to Level I technicians and radiographic testing assistants as needed.
  • Maintain a safe and professional work environment and comply with company and client safety requirements.
  • Perform additional nondestructive testing methods and inspection activities as assigned based on qualifications and project requirements.
Desired Qualifications
  • Current IRRSP or applicable state radiographer certification or card where required.
  • Previous experience performing radiographic testing using computed radiography and digital radiography systems in field environments.
  • Experience with both conventional and digital radiographic techniques.
  • Additional nondestructive testing certifications or advanced inspection qualifications.
  • Experience working turnarounds, outages, maintenance projects, new construction, fabrication shops, or pipeline projects.
  • Familiarity with client-specific inspection procedures and reporting systems.
