- A Master’s degree from an accredited Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant program is required.
- A current New York State license as a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant is required.
- National board certification as a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant is required.
- Basic Life Support and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support certifications are required.
- A CCRN certification is strongly preferred.
- A DEA license is required or the candidate must be eligible to obtain one before the start date.
- Strong clinical decision-making skills in high-acuity environments are required.
- Excellent communication, teamwork, and leadership abilities are required.
- Perform comprehensive assessments and ongoing management of critically ill cardiac patients in the Cardiac Critical Care Unit.
- Develop and implement evidence-based treatment plans for complex cardiovascular conditions.
- Order, interpret, and act upon diagnostic studies including laboratory tests, electrocardiograms, imaging, and hemodynamic monitoring.
- Manage invasive and non-invasive ventilation strategies.
- Titrate vasoactive medications, inotropes, and antiarrhythmics under established protocols.
- Assist with or perform bedside procedures within the scope of practice.
- Provide post-cardiac catheterization, post-percutaneous coronary intervention, and post-cardiothoracic surgery management.
- Participate in daily multidisciplinary rounds.
- Communicate with patients and families regarding the plan of care and clinical status.
- Collaborate with attending physicians to ensure continuity of care and adherence to best practices.
- Facilitate safe transitions of care within and beyond the Cardiac Critical Care Unit.
- Maintain timely and accurate documentation in the electronic medical record.
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives and cardiac care performance metrics.
- Contribute to department education, mentorship, and evidence-based practice initiatives.
- Engage in ongoing professional development and continuing education.
- A minimum of 1–2 years of critical care, cardiac intensive care unit, or acute care experience is preferred.
